Last Measure was a shock site made sometime in late 2003 by the internet trolling group GNAA, which is an acronym for the Gay Nigger Association of America. This shock site was created by Penisbird, who is one of the members of the GNAA, as displayed in the credits of the website.

The site was actively developed until 2010. There are plenty of variants of this website, as the source code is open. Anyone can download it and create their own mirror.

Content

The original website displayed the Goatse image as its background, and then would open several new browser windows displaying one or more shock images, which were either pornographic images including Tubgirl, Lemon Party, etc, or horrifying medical photographs taken from Wikipedia, along with an extremely loud looped audio of a man screaming "HEY EVERYBODY, I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO!" to alert people near you. A script on the website would also try to use the "mailto" and "callto" functions with the intent to cause the viewer's computer to freeze.

Variants

This website used browser exploits such as the 'onmouseover' and 'onclick' functions to ignore pop-up blockers and spawn windows containing shock images to move around and bounce around the viewer's screen.

Some people claim that some Last Measure variants contain actual malware, though this claim is most likely false, as the script of the website doesn't download any malware on the viewer's device, and the site can be closed by using Task Manager or by resetting the affected computer. Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, and other IE-based browsers may handle the website very poorly and may cause the entire device to crash.

A few versions use a script called 'StatsMeasure,' which leaks the visitor's clipboard data online. Later versions of the Last Measure used a Java applet called 'CoffeeMeasure' which spawns several Java application windows that move around the screen. The Unified X version of Last Measure contains a montage of shock images, including images from The Pain Series and other images from various shock sites. Additionally, an external link to a mirror was added to the Offended page on Encyclopedia Dramatica.

Behavior of Last Measure

People who visit a Last Measure website containing the script often think their computer is infected with a virus. Many internet browsers today may not execute all of the scripts or prompt a warning before some of the script portions are executed. However, it may still cause temporary ruination. For example, on Safari, it can still turn the browser into a fork bomb by opening mIRC and the default email client in a loop which causes the computer to slow down or even crash.

There is a version of Last Measure that also uses code from the infamous JavaScript Trojan "Offiz," famously known as "You are an idiot" which presents the well-known Flash application called "rgb.swf," an 8-bit version of Axel Foley from Beverly Hills Cop with bright flashing RGB colors in an attempt to trigger an epileptic seizure.

Ruby Measure

The GNAA announced a new version of Last Measure called RubyMeasure, which were to be completely written in the programming language Ruby, which would have launched in May 2013. However, this plan was eventually cancelled.
