Angry Birds Fight! Crimea Edition was an unauthorized satirical shock mod of Rovio Entertainment’s discontinued 2015 puzzle game Angry Birds Fight, a Candy Crush-inspired match-3 title. The mod, created amid tensions following Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea, altered the original game to include politically and religiously charged content. Upon launch, players encountered a brief graphic image before accessing a menu offering the "Russian Federation" mode. This mode replaced game assets with explicit imagery: Russian soldiers depicted with dismembered limbs, Jeff the Killer, World War II-themed backgrounds, and redesigned characters such as Terrence (reimagined as Jesus in a context perceived as blasphemous by Christian groups). Red also appeared as a beheaded soldier.
The mod’s behavior varied based on the device’s regional settings. Players in Russia faced a malware attack: losing a match triggered a factory reset, preceded by a screen displaying a pale man, a message about "consequences of being Russian," and the Crimean flag captioned "Ours!" However, setting the region to Ukraine unlocked unlimited in-game currency and restored unmodified gameplay.[1][2]
There isn’t much written about the mod because it is harmful and lost from time, but some screenshots and TikTok clips still exist.[3] In 2025, a YouTuber named Tranium tested the mod in his video "I Tested Suspicious Phone App Malware 3" after downloading it from Telegram.[4]
