Sad Satan was a shock horror game released in 2015 that was made by a Dark Web user under the username "ZK." The game was originally a hoax but ended up becoming a real game.
Origin
The first hoax was gameplay uploaded to YouTube by a channel called Obscure Horror Corner, run by Irish youtuber Jamie Farrel.[1] The videos started getting a lot of views and some people tries to find the actual game.
In a Kotaku article called "A Horror Game That May Be Hidden In The Darkest Corners Of The Internet" , Obscure Horror Corner said he got the game from a deep web service after receiving a tip from an anonymous subscriber. This subscriber claimed to have found the link on a dark web forum, from a user only known as "ZK". Originally, Obscure Horror Corner stated that the game contained no gore or child pornography.[2]
r/sadsatan was a subreddit created to discuss the game. Users eventually realized the .onion address provided by Obscure Horror Corner contained invalid characters. Obscure Horror Corner appeared on Kotaku again claiming that the link was purposefully given in error since the game itself did in fact contain graphic material, and he didn't want to be responsible for sharing such imagery.
4chan
A little bit before the update, a user on 4chan user claiming to be ZK started a thread on the /x/ board at July 07, 2015. the thread "What you've seen on YouTube isn't right. Don't believe that coward Obscure Horror Corner. He did not show you what was truly in this game." The thread contained a MEGA link to download the clone this version of Sad Satan.[3] This particular version of the game contained malicious scripts that ruined some players computers by making them run slow and become unresponsive.
Gameplay
The game takes place in an eerie, dark maze. Every few seconds, gore images depicting adults and even kids would appear on the screen.
The images were
- G1.jpg: depicts a beheaded kid
- G2.jpg: a man's head chopped off on the bed
- G3.jpg: a woman's head chopped off as the previous one
- G4.jpg: a kid`s head getting run over by a truck
- G5.jpg: the most controversial out all of the other images. Its unknown what happens in G5.jpg but everyone who got their hands on the 4chan clone claimed that the G5 image was child pornography. The woman on the image is Corinne Danielle Motley. A Florida woman who was arrested for child pornography
The game would also show images of pedophiles and serial killers.
The criminals appearing on the screen are
- Jimmy Savile (he is shown with a sign saying "NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is great, Jimmy Savile was exposed to defending viewers of child porn, in 2008 an allegation of an indecent assault by Savile at the home in the 1970s had been investigated)
- Roman Polanski (a film director who sexually abused 13-14 year olds)
- Charles Manson (a cult leader whose followers carried out several notorious murders)
- Rolf Harris (charged with nine counts of indecent assault and four counts of making indecent images of children)
Audio of reversed screams, one of Adolf Hitler's speeches and Charles Manson speaking could be heard. Once the player finished the maze, they would be trapped in a dark room.
Investigation
After the game was released to the public, some people were trying to find out who in their right mind would make this game. A lot of people thought that the 4chan user who started the Sad Satan thread also made this clone. Some people believe that Obscure Horror Corner made it, while others believe that Obscure Horror Corner made the fake version and the illegal clone. Obscure Horror Clone ended up deleting his descriptions and quit YouTube, and hasn't uploaded since 2015.
FBI Involvement
The FBI actually investigated this game and ended up banning all download links. Attempting to copy and paste the MEGA link will give an error screen saying that the file was removed for violating the MEGA ToS.
