Mario.exe is a .exe game made by CoolRash in 2015 based on the original game Super Mario Bros..
Mario.exe is a creepypasta .exe game created and uploaded to GameJolt by CoolRash on April 24, 2015. It's one of the popular .exe games based around Super Mario Bros.

The game begins in the main menu from the original game, with the difference being Mario at full-size and the player game options being replaced with Mario (top) and Luigi (bottom). Mario cannot be selected, but Luigi can. After Luigi is selected, the following changes take place for a split second:
Gameplay
* The background changes to red and becomes realistic
The game opens on the original main menu, but with a few unsettling differences: Mario is full-sized, and the player options are replaced by Mario (top) and Luigi (bottom). The player can only select Luigi. The moment they do, the screen flashes with terrifying changes for a split second:
* The title block is splattered with blood, along with a flaming torch on each side
* 1985 is changed to 666
* Mario and Luigi are changed to immortal, and they must die, respectively.
* The text on the top of the screen changes to black, in addition to the coin changing to white, world 1-1 changing to world E-0, and time having killlll written at the bottom
* Top- 000000 changing to God- 5403
* Mario becomes dull in color, along with his eyes changing to black with red pupils and bloody tears, and splattered blood at the bottom
* The bushes are burning and turning orange, along with developing black eyes with red pupils.
After that, Luigi is shown at full size, beginning with 5 lives. The first level begins mostly similarly to World 1-1 in the original game. After Luigi reaches the end, he finds Mario.exe, who laughs evilly, then burns the castle from the original game, causing toads to come out, burned alive. After that, Luigi has to run to avoid getting crushed by spikes. If successful, Luigi will reach a pipe at the end. Upon reaching the pipe, text appears saying: "HELLO, LUIGI. I WANT TO PLAY WIT YOU.". This marks the end of the first level.

The second level is an underground level, similar to the original game. The level has pieces of toad corpses and green mushrooms, which Luigi must avoid or else he will cough up blood and then die. Near the end of the level, Luigi must avoid spikes coming from the right side of the screen, followed by approaching a toad with closed eyes. Upon approaching the toad, the player will be jumpscared by the toad, which turns out to be a monster. After that, the player must repeatedly press F to defeat the toad while wrestling it, with either loser getting decapitated. If Luigi succeeds, he will reach another pipe at the end. Upon reaching the end, text appears saying: "THAT, WHICH AWAITS FOR YOU ON THE LOCK WILL SOON LEAVE. HASTEN..."."
#The background turns into a realistic, blood-red landscape.
#The title block becomes splattered with blood, flanked by flaming torches.
#The copyright year 1985 shifts to 666, and the high score Top- 000000 changes to God- 5403.
#The player text updates to read "immortal" for Mario and "they must die" for Luigi.
#The top-screen text turns black, the coin turns white, World 1-1 changes to World E-0, and the timer is replaced with #the word "killlll."
#Mario's colors dull; his eyes turn pitch-black with red pupils, crying tears of blood over a blood-splattered floor.
#The bushes ignite into orange flames, developing the same black and red demonic eyes.

Now the player must complete the third level. The level is a platform level. Before Luigi begins, there is red writing saying, "Hello, Luigi. I want to play with you. Are you ready?". If Luigi falls to his death, he will land on the ground and die by splitting into pieces. Upon getting past all of the platforms, Luigi will reach the castle along with red text saying "Luigi, look back". When Luigi turns back, he finds Mario.exe with Peach, who laughs once again before carrying out his next evil deed, pushing Peach off a cliff, causing Peach to fall to her death. After that, Luigi must evade Mario.exe charging towards him. If he does, he must go back to the same castle, which now has the text "you'RE NEXT". Upon reaching he end, the player will jumpscared by Mario.exe with the same scream from Five Nights at Freddy's, with Mario.exe headbutting the screen, followed by the text "HAS COME YOUR TURN".
World 1-1
Luigi spawns at full size with five lives. The first level starts off playing very much like the classic World 1-1, but when Luigi reaches the end, he encounters Mario.exe. The demonic figure laughs evilly before burning down the iconic castle, forcing Toads to flee while burning alive. Luigi must then sprint to avoid being crushed by falling spikes. If he survives and reaches the exit pipe, an ominous message appears: "HELLO, LUIGI. I WANT TO PLAY WIT YOU."

The fourth level is a castle level. While Luigi is heading to the right, he will encounter demonic symbols, along with static appearing from time to time. Once Luigi reaches the end, he will encounter Mario.exe, who will disappear upon contact. Luigi must then turn back to the left, where red fog will fill the background. After reaching the end of the left, Luigi must turn back to the right, where the red fog will disappear. Upon reaching the end, Mario.exe will fly towards Luigi with a knife. Upon reaching Luigi, the screen will cut to a black background with blood splattered, followed by an unsettling screen with a blood-red realistic tunnel, text on top saying 'GAME OVER', Mario.exe staring at the player with his clothes stained in blood, a toad with it's head pulled out of it's body along with it's spine, pinned to a wall with a knife, and Luigi's head decapitated with his body and impaled.

The second stage is an underground level filled with scattered Toad corpses and toxic green mushrooms. Luigi must carefully dodge these hazards, or he will cough up blood and die. Near the exit, he has to evade spikes shooting from the right side of the screen before approaching a Toad with closed eyes. As Luigi gets close, the Toad appears with a screamer, revealing itself as a monster. The player must then rapidly press "F" to wrestle and defeat the creature, with the loser getting decapitated. Mario.exe is a creepypasta .exe game created and uploaded to GameJolt by CoolRash on April 24, 2015. It's one of the popular .exe games based around Super Mario Bros.

Gameplay

The game opens on the original main menu, but with a few unsettling differences: Mario is full-sized, and the player options are replaced by Mario (top) and Luigi (bottom). The player can only select Luigi. The moment they do, the screen flashes with terrifying changes for a split second:

 1. The background turns into a realistic, blood-red landscape.
 2. The title block becomes splattered with blood, flanked by flaming torches.
 3. The copyright year 1985 shifts to 666, and the high score Top- 000000 changes to God- 5403.
 4. The player text updates to read "immortal" for Mario and "they must die" for Luigi.
 5. The top-screen text turns black, the coin turns white, World 1-1 changes to World E-0, and the timer is replaced with #the word "killlll."
 6. Mario's colors dull; his eyes turn pitch-black with red pupils, crying tears of blood over a blood-splattered floor.
 7. The bushes ignite into orange flames, developing the same black and red demonic eyes.

World 1-2

Whatever you do, don't touch the mushrooms.

If Luigi wins, he escapes through another pipe as a new message appears: "THAT, WHICH AWAITS FOR YOU ON THE LOCK WILL SOON LEAVE. HASTEN...". If Luigi loses, they can try again with the remaining lives.

World 1-3

The third stage is a platforming level introduced by red text: "Hello, Luigi. I want to play with you. Are you ready?" Missing a jump is fatal; if Luigi falls, he hits the ground and shatters into pieces. After navigating the platforms, Luigi reaches a castle bearing the blood-red message, "Luigi, look back." Turning around reveals Mario.exe holding Princess Peach. The demon laughs before mercilessly pushing her off a cliff to her death. Mario.exe then charges, forcing Luigi to sprint back to the castle, which now reads, "you'RE NEXT." Reaching the end triggers a screamer: Mario.exe headbutts the screen alongside the infamous Five Nights at Freddy's scream, followed by the text again, "HAS COME YOUR TURN."

World E-0

The "Final" level in question.

The fourth and final level takes place in a castle, interestingly named E-0. As Luigi runs right, the screen glitches with static, and demonic symbols line the walls. At the end of the hall, he touches Mario.exe, who instantly vanishes. Luigi is forced to backtrack to the left through a thick, red fog. Reaching the far left wall, he must turn back to the right once more, clearing the fog.

At the very end, Mario.exe flies at Luigi wielding a knife. The moment they collide, the screen cuts to black with a blood splatter. The game concludes on a deeply unsettling "GAME OVER" screen: a realistic, blood-red tunnel where a bloodstained Mario.exe stares directly at the player. In the background, a mutilated Toad is pinned to the wall by a knife through its exposed spine, while Luigi's decapitated head and impaled body are displayed nearby.

Trivia

 • The CoolRash version of Mario.exe had been frequently referenced, redesigned, and featured in massive community crossovers, most notably getting musical nods and fan-made concepts for the massive Friday Night Funkin' mod, Mario's Madness.[2]
 • In various spin-off wikis and Roblox adaptations (like Outcome Memories), CoolRash's Mario is often classified as an "Executioner" class enemy because his kill count and methodical torment of Luigi are much more structured than the chaotic, random killing sprees of other creepypasta monsters.[3]
