The game starts off being extremely corrupted with most of the dialogs unreadable. On the map, there is another version of Mario on the map screen that is moving in random directions. The first level starts off with black fog. If you kill a Koopa, a image of a roadkill turtle suddenly appears with the same scream from [[The Maze]].
