The Last Measure banner.

Last Measure was a shock site made in 2003 by the internet trolling group Gay Nigger Association of America (GNAA). This shock site was created by PenisBird, a member of the GNAA. This is displayed in the credits of the website, which can be found by viewing the source code of the site.

The site was actively developed until 2010. There are many variants of this website, as the source code is open. Anyone can download it and create their own mirror.

Behavior

The page displayed pooped.jpg[1] upon immediately entering the website. It set Goatse as the page's background. and opened numerous browser windows via a JavaScript function called procreate containing either Pillowfight, Penisbird, Tubgirl, or Lemon Party. It then used a function called playBall to move the windows around the screen. The page embedded a looping audio file called fsckyou.wav.mp3, which was a sample of a man screaming "HEY EVERYBODY, I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO!".

The text "GNAA > j00 fristage postage is mine" is seen at the top of the page. Below is the text "Lastmeasure last measure last-measure nero institute", which may have been an attempt to get the page listed under Google. The title of the page is "Our lawyer has informed us that we need a warning. So, if you are under the age of 18 or find this offensive, pleae [sic] leave immediately", which is a reference to the text on the front page of Goatse.cx.

The page also has a button with the text "CLICK ME", which utilizes the onmouseover[2] and onclick[3] events to call on the procreate and playBall functions to spawn more windows. If the user attempts to close any windows, the page utilizes the onunload[4] event to spawn even more. If the user presses ALT+F4, the CTRL key, or the DEL key, the page displays an alert containing the same text as the page title.

Last Measure checks if the browser is Microsoft Internet Explorer, and if the version of Internet Explorer is greater than or equal to 4. If both conditions are met, it saves the page URL as a bookmark titled “Idiot!”.

Notable Variants

Nimp.org

Main article: Nimp.org

Nimp.org utilized many payloads not found in the original Last Measure, such as making various outbound connections, opening the user's default email client, and downloading files. It also included many more shock images, such as the Pain Series and Harlequin Fetus images.

Procreator.php

Procreator.php largely had the same code as Last Measure, but contained additional shock images such as christmas.jpg, spin.gif, freak.jpg, rustina.jpg, loopback.jpg, eww.jpg, and weightlifter.

The source code contains a string of text related to the development of the anti-popup-blocker functionality:

It also contains the following text in first-level header tags:

The procreate function also contains an additional code comment:

Despite comments mentioning ModelessDialog,[5] it is not actually utilized in the code.

Zeikfried

The title of the page is "This is my LastMeasure, my FinalHope. Lovez and kissez from Zeikfried~!", and pressing ALT+F4 or the Ctrl key spawned an alert message with the same text. However, pressing the Del key spawned credits identical to that of Nimp.org, except the Last Measure version is listed as 3.3.

It contains the same ModelessDialog code comment as Procreator.php. However, Zeikfried actually utilizes ModelessDialog, unlike Procreator,php.

The main page contains the text:

The source code also contains the text "If you have a screen larger than this i'll eat my own shit. - this button shit is +1 insightful." after the closing </html> tag.

An archive from April 2005 shows that the page contents no longer contain any window-spawning payloads or code comments. It has the text "HELLO THIS SICKENING GAY PORNOGRAPHY THAT WILL CRASH YOUR BROWSER IS NOT HERE YET PLEASE BARE WITH ME XXX" in first-level header tags and an image called XAXAXA.jpg below it. The title was also changed to "LOL PLACEHOLDER", which suggests that this iteration was merely a placeholder for things to come. It is unknown if any changes were made to the site after this point.

Seizure Measure

Last Measure utilizes JavaScript functions such as the onmouseover and onclick functions to ignore pop-up blockers and spawn windows containing shock images to move and bounce around the viewer's screen.

Some people claim that Last Measure contains actual malware, though this is false, as the script of the website does not download any kind of software on the viewer's device, and the site can be closed by using Task Manager or by resetting the affected computer. Some web browsers such as Internet Explorer or other IE-based browsers may handle the website very poorly and cause the entire device to crash.

A few variants of Last Measure use a script called StatsMeasure which leaks the visitor's clipboard data online. Later variants of Last Measure used a Java applet called CoffeeMeasure which spawns several Java application windows that move around the screen. The Unified X version of Last Measure contains a montage of shock images, including images from The Pain Series and other images from various shock sites. Additionally, an external link to a mirror was added to the Offended page on Encyclopedia Dramatica.

Behavior of Last Measure

People who visit the Last Measure website containing the script often think their computer is infected with a virus. Many internet browsers today may not execute all of the scripts or may prompt a warning before some of the script portions are executed. However, it may still cause temporary ruination. For example, when accessed through Safari, the browser may become overwhelmed by a forkbomb, which involves opening mIRC and the default email client in a loop which causes the computer to slow down or even crash.

There is a version of Last Measure that uses code from the infamous JavaScript trojan Trojan.JS.Offiz, better known as Trojan.JS.YouAreAnIdiot. This version presents the well-known Flash called rgb.swf which displays bright flashing RGB colors accompanied by a chiptune version of Axel F from Beverly Hills Cop.

Ruby Measure

The GNAA announced a new version of Last Measure called RubyMeasure, which was to be written in the Ruby programming language. It was expected to launch in May 2013, but was ultimately cancelled.

Last Measure Operating System

The Last Measure Operating System (LMOS) is a minimalist operating system developed by Sam Hocevar. It is written in x86 assembly and will boot on any x86 computer. Due to its small size, it can easily fit on a CD, floppy disk, or USB drive.

The default LMOS theme contains the following shock images: hello.jpg, tub.jpg, loopback.jpg, harlequin.jpg, pooped.jpg, pillowfight.jpg, and lemonparty.jpg, and the "HEY EVERYBODY, I’M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO" audio sample.
