This is a page documenting several eras of shock sites, videos or images and listing them.

The Retro Era (1970 - Early 1999)

This mostly consists of screamers made within the Retro Era. Most of these can be low quality, as in "retro" in the title. These can include up to suicides on live television, graphic war videos or just weird pornography. Now, I'm going to list the shock sites in the retro era.

  • Monkey on Their Backs - PSA commercial against heroin (yes unironically). It starts off with a monkey toy crashing it's cymbals, with a narrator saying things like "They say, people addicted to heroin have a monkey on their back". But of course, the monkey toy jumpscares the camera with a scream.
  • Christine Chubbuck's Suicide - On July 15th, 1974, a television broadcaster Christine Chubbuck, shot herself in the head due to a fight with depression, on live television at WWSB. The recording, was in fact on some tapes. However, Christine's family got the tapes, and supposedly destroyed them. The recording, however is lost to time. Until, in 2021 Ataliste claimed a cassette of the recording; though did not release the suicide audio in respect. Rest in peace.
  • Dumb Animals - Another PSA. It shows three women in fur coats until they spin when blood comes out of the fur coats. "It takes up to 40 dumb animals to make a fur coat, But only one to wear it.", saying the caption at the end of the PSA.
  • Budd Dwyer’s Suicide - A recording of American politician R. Budd Dwyer committing suicide because he was framed of bribery and corruption. Dwyer's colleagues try to stop Dwyer, however, he ignored them and shot himself with a revolver. Dwyer's corpse collapses to the floor with blood coming out of his nose, mouth and a wound at the back of his head. The audience can also be heard screaming and dialing emergency services. Rest in peace.
  • Jumyou Ga Chijimaru - A unlicensed third-party Super Famicom demo featuring slideshows of people vomiting, graphic content, and other things. Unironically it was made by the same creator of Hong Kong 97.
  • Bowlgirl - Shock video featuring a woman near a metal bowl with a lit candle. Two seconds later, she sticks her entire hand down her throats and vomits, and even slurping the vomit back up.
  • Rotten.com - The first shock host - literally. Registered by Soylent Communications, the site hosted dead people, diseases, deformed bodies, violent acts, and other graphic content. An example of a image hosted is a Scarlet Macaw on a man's erect penis that got spammed on Slashdot, and made a cameo in Last Measure.

The Classic Era (Mid 1999 - Late 2003)

  • Bonsai Kitten - A nontraditional shock site featuring a hoax guide how to raise a kitten in a jar.

The Golden Era (2004 - 2010)

Now, this is where we get real. You'll start to see bait and switch shock sites, more weird pornography and much more. Most of these were spread on MSN Messager, or AOL Messager. You may see a bait and switch trend in these.

  • KittyBeef/PuppyBeef - A traditional shock site that is a alleged cat/dog butcher. It was also reported to PETA.
