Derived Puzzle is a screamer webpage created and hosted in Neocities by SkyTheWanderer on January 3rd, 2021. SkyTheWanderer designed this website shortly after learning HTML and CSS. As it's evident, the site was created using basic HTML and CSS.
Content
The website is mainly inspired from a Japanese screamer known as Goodbye to the Dolphin's Dream. Upon entering the site, visitors are promptly greeted by a text, specifying that they must select one of three buttons to complete the "game". It's worth noting that the remaining two buttons will "surprise" the user. These three buttons are visibly hyperlinked on the left side of the screen.
The first button redirects the user to a message: "There is nothing here, Go back........." Yet, a hidden part of content lies beneath this seemingly empty space, accessible through scrolling. This hidden white text provides players with a clue: the word "nothing" in the above text is more than it seems and functions as a link to another webpage. This link leads to the original archive of the Anne.jpg website.
The second button guides users to a page showcasing an image of a Japanese bedroom derived from Lomando.com's Tokonoma.html. Accompanying this image is a text inviting users to "Watch this room...... to relax........" Further scrolling reveals a black power button located at the bottom of the page. Clicking this button triggers a congratulatory message, telling them that they had found the ending of the "game."
Clicking the third button reveals an image of a skull, along with a corresponding text that encourages players to interact with this skull image. Upon doing so, it will download a copy of Mov0001.swf
.
