PhoneTrace.org was a bait-and-switch shock site created in 2005 that pretended to trace any cell phone.

The website tricked the user into entering their phone number and state, before interacting with a "Trace it now" link. It would then take the viewer to a fake GPS tracker, which is actually a Flash animation. A fake satellite image will also appear, and the animation will pretend to find the viewer's phone. After a while, the same GIF from Meatspin will appear while the 2003 remix of "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" by Dead or Alive plays as the background music. After a few seconds, the webpage takes user back to the main page.

History

In September 2013, the shocking content was removed, and the result changed to a video clip of Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley. A few years later, the result changed to a low-quality, black-and-white image of a couple sitting in a bathtub accompanied by western music.

The GPS page was also remade in HTML5 since Adobe Flash Player has been discontinued, and this site has also been at the bottom of every ShockSiteList.com page.

Satellite-GPS-Locator

An alternate safe-for-work version of the site exists as well, located at "satellite-gps-locator.com", where the shocking content is replaced with a shirtless man in the mud, accompanied with banjo music in the background. The image was replaced with a photo of two people kissing in the past.

Other Sites

There exists other sites that uses the exact same content as before.

WifeTrace - Displays the exact same thing as before, the site pretends to find wifes which ends off instead of Meatspin, it shows a woman having sex with preforming fellatio with another man along with a loud sound of a woman moaning being played on loop.

Husband Trace - Same as before; it pretends to find husbands which ends off with a GIF of a man preforming fellatio with another man along with a loud sound of a man moaning being played on loop.

Free GPS Online - Displays the exact same thing as Satellite-GPS-Locator, which ends off with the same GIF from Poobutton.com.

GPS Phone Search - Another safe-for-work version, which displays the exact Never Gonna Give You Up video that was shown in the September 2013 version of PhoneTrace.org.

Trace Santa - Yet, another safe-for work version which is a parody of Satellite-GPS-Locator and Free GPS Online, which displays an editied picture of a boy crying against a editied tombstone with Santa's name on there while Jingle Bells plays in the background which gets lower pitched at the end.

Mortgage Snitch - Yet again, another safe-for work version which displays an image of some stacked houses while the same banjo music from Satellite-GPS-Locator plays.
