Derived Puzzle is a screamer webpage created and hosted in Neocities by SkyBlueCatM on January 3rd, 2021. Derived Puzzle was created alongside the now-deleted and inaccessible No Escape and Red Button making it the only surviving screamer of the trio.
Drawing significant inspiration from the Japanese screamer Goodbye to the Dolphin's Dream, the website presents the user with a "game" consisting of three distinct navigational paths. While one path leads to the "ending", the remaining options function as hidden jump-scares.
The first button leads to a seemingly vacant page containing the message, "There is nothing here, Go back." Beneath the visible area, white text hidden by the background provides a clue, revealing that the word "nothing" serves as a hyperlink. This hyperlink leads the user to the original archive of the Anne.jpg website.
The second button displays an image of a Japanese-style bedroom (an asset sourced from the Lomando.com subpage Tokonoma.html) along with text prompting the viewer to "relax". A power button at the base of the page triggers the site’s "ending" message.
The third button displays a skull graphic. Interacting with the image triggers an automatic download of Mov0001.swf, a Flash animation of Amy Peterson from Fright Night zooming in and out with a loud screech.
