The Ghost Rider video (a.k.a. CJNG burns a rivals face) is a video made by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) that the group uploaded to social media in September 2020. The victim was a local leader of the Cárteles Unidos nicknamed Ghost Rider. [1][2]

Content

The video starts showing a man being brutally tortured. The victim's face is badly burnt as the CJNG members are pouring alcohol on his face and lighting it on fire repeatedly. The man can be heard screaming in agony, and at one point he manages to touch his face and becomes even more restless as he realizes the extent of his injuries. The video then cuts to a clip seemingly recorded much later. At this point, there is nothing left of his face or hair which has been replaced by a red and bloodied skull. It appears as if most of his nerves have been burnt away since now he appears much more calm, although he is still groaning quietly. The video then abruptly ends. The reason for this specific torture method was to ridicule his nickname "Ghost Rider", making him look like the character with the same name. [1]

Backstory

As the CJNG and the Cárteles Unidos were engaging in a bloody war in the Michoacán province in Mexico, CJNG gunmen were able to kidnap one of their rival leaders. The victim was abducted in the town of Bonifacio Moreno (El Aguaje) and was promptly brought to a ranch located near Tepalcatepec where he was tortured over the span of a weekend and then eventually killed.
