DEATHDEATHDEATHDEATH Curse (Japanese: 死死死死死 呪い; Shishishishi Noroi) was a Japanese screamer website registered in 2012 by an artist known as "Yamada."
The site featured a single page with a loud audio track reportedly sampled from an episode of Agatha Christie's Poirot and a static image of an antique doll with its head tilted. Some sources suggest this image originated from the opening sequence of the PlayStation version of the game Otogirisō.
Beneath the imagery, two Japanese phrases were displayed: "The curse has begun... hee hee hee..." (呪いは始まった・・・・・・ ククク) and "In 49 days you will... die" (四十九日後に...............................死ね). The 49-day timeframe is a reference to the Buddhist mourning period, during which a soul is said to wander before transitioning to the afterlife. Despite the associated urban legend, no adverse effects were documented following the expiration of the period.
The website gained significant traction on the Japanese imageboard 5channel and was featured on Must Not Search wiki. Users were warned that searching for the character "死" (death) repeatedly would surface the site as a top result. Technical warnings often accompanied the link, citing the potential for browser "freezing" and extreme volume.
The original domain has since been decommissioned and currently redirects to the artist's portfolio, titled "Recommended Works" (オススメの作品).[1]
