| Luka Magnotta was born Eric Clinton Kirk Newman on July 24, 1982, in Scarborough, where he was mostly raised. He was born to Anna Yourkin and Donald Newman as one of the eldest of three kids, including his brother Conrad and sister Melissa, all of whom were born in their father's basement. They had since moved into a home in Bethany, Ontario, where they lived and raised their children there. His father, who was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2000, was a soap factory worker for Lever Brothers, and his mother had been obsessed with cleanliness and often wore surgical masks. They both met together when Yourkin was in 9th grade and Newman was in 10th grade. The family then had to move into the grandparents' home after their house was lost. His father was also arrested and fired from work for drinking while driving and recalled having his pet rabbit thrown outside in the winter by his mother to freeze to death as she "wanted total control over them." | [[1 Lunatic 1 Icepick]] was originally planned by Magnotta 6 months ago, which is the matter of luring someone into his apartment and killing them to make a "movie out of it,". Before that, Magnotta advertised this movie to various sites before that happened a few days ago. On June 24, 2012, Magnotta posted a Craigslist advertisement stating that he was looking for a male actor for a "personal movie," which the Chinese international student Jun Lin later responded to. The two met in person at the Décarie Boulevard apartment on the evening of May 24, 2012, where the incident happened from that point on. Shortly after, Magnotta posted the "movie" to the site Bestgore.com, entitled "1 Lunatic, 1 Icepick". The video depicts Luka Magnotta stabbing Jun Lin with an "icepick" [note 1] several times before showing the close-up of his corpse. The rest of the video consists of Magnotta preforming necrophilia acts on the corpse, sodomizing the asshole with a wine bottle, bringing some black puppies to eat the flesh of the corpse, and stabbing it again. Things presented in the video, such as the Casablanca, the "icepick", the black puppy, and the wine bottle, were also found piled in the trash at the apartment. Magnotta also mailed most of his limbs to various headquarters in Canada, with his leg left inside the suitcase that was outside of the apartment, which was soon found by a janitor.
