REMEMBER: Always follow the rules. If you violate any of these rules, you will get a warning. If you repeat two more times, you will be banned from the wiki. If you vandalize the wiki, you will be banned without any warning.
Creating and editing pages
- Do not post, discuss, upload, request, or link to anything that is illegal in the United States. If you do, we are required to report you to law enforcement.
- Avoid using scary images, NSFW/NSFL images, videos, or clickable links that lead directly to the screamer or shock site. Instead, use non-clickable links, or links that can't be clicked on. For example, ScaryScreamer.com.
- Use either the forum, user talk pages, or user subpages to communicate with other users. Do not create pages that are out of a subject, or you will get a warning.
- Use correct grammar and spelling, write in American English. If this rule is violated, your account will not get banned.
- The page name must always be the name of the screamer, without www. or http:// . For example, ScaryScreamer.com, and not http://www.ScaryScreamer.com. The name's capitalization may be changed to title case if necessary.
- Do not brigade or plan a brigade to this wiki or user. Doing so will result in an immediate ban.
- Do not delete, blank or replace the content of a page. If you want to delete a page, just add {{delete}} but keep the page intact.
Forums and User Subpages
- Be respectful to others, no insults, racial slurs (except in the context of a screamer or shock site), harassment, or discrimination will not be tolerated. Users making credible threats or doxing may be reported to law enforcement.
- If other users are being rude towards you, avoid insulting them in return and report them to an admin.
- Ignore trolls, as giving them attention will only fuel their attempts to pester you.
- You will always be able to argue about your ban on your message wall unless what you did was unforgivable (doxing, vandalism, as well as harassment, insulting, and threatening even after multiple warnings issued).
- Do not post spam or clickable links to screamers to trick other users.
- Do not edit other people's posts or user pages unless the user is breaking a rule.
- You can talk about anything you want.
- Posts may be edited or deleted if they violate COPPA.
- No advertising or begging.
- Necro-posting is allowed and encouraged.
- Follow United States law. If you break the law, we are required to report you to law enforcement.
Activity outside Screamer Wiki
- We ask that you do not act in a way that would reflect poorly upon the Screamer Wiki or its users.
Usernames and Second Accounts
- Do not create accounts with inappropriate usernames. Doing so will result in the account being renamed.
- Do not use second accounts (sockpuppets) to break any of the other rules listed.
- Do not use second accounts to circumvent a ban. Doing so will result in a permanent ban, so wait or appeal your current ban.
- Do not impersonate people. Doing so will result in a permanent ban.
Ban appeals
If you would like to appeal a ban, simply put a message on your own talk page or email stating why your ban should be lifted.
Good practices
- Remove clickable links that go directly to the website and replace them with un-clickable links.
- Flag any photos or videos that contain a screamer with {{Delete}} to flag the file for deletion.
- If you see someone violating any of the rules, tell them by using this template and fix the page.
- If you see someone vandalizing and brigading the wiki, fix the page and contact an administrator.
- If you see any grammatical or spelling mistakes, correct them or add {{Cleanup}}.
- If you see any false information, correct it.
- If there are missing categories, add them.
- If you are creating pages for screamers and shock sites, please add the {{ContentWarning}} template at the very top of the page first.
- If you see any articles (or portions) of articles that have been plagiarized, give credit of the portion to the original website (example: Jarsquatter) or delete the portion entirely.
- If you see any parts of an article that are uncited, cite them or add {{citation}}.
- Use MediaWiki links (for example [[wikipedia:Example of an article|Example of an article]]) instead of templates (for example {{Wikipedia|Example of an article}}) because they are causing baiting.
- Make sure articles follow the Manual of Style
Minimum Age
- Due to COPPA, you must be at least 13 years old to post personal information.
- If you are under 13, you must not post any identifiable information that shows that you are under 13.
Deleting Your Account
Accounts can never be fully deleted, like on Wikipedia. The most you can do is ask an Admin for your account to be vanished.
Templates and examples
- Here is a list of good pages; they contain images, pertinent info, links, galleries (when necessary), and are well structured and follow most of the criteria on the Manual of Style.
Help Guides
Are you a new user? If this is the case, the Help Guides are here for you. These handy guides show you how to use the wiki more efficiently, from how to edit pages, to adding colors and changing fonts, to becoming a moderator or an admin.
