This page is about a screamer or shock site, whose original copy has been deleted. |
tyaku.swf was a Japanese screamer created in 2003, disguised as a fake Geocities website.
It displays a website experiencing severe encoding errors (mojibake) alongside red banner text blocks. At the center is a small, green-tinted image of a man holding a phone with red streaks drawn over his face. The page is filled with scrambled symbols, and broken characters, anchored at the bottom by a copyright notice: "All rights reserved. 2003.tonichi.com". Over a 10-second span, the page momentarily flashes a disembodied zombie head before looping the sequence.
Right next to the image are two URLs: http://www.co.touhou))./chakuari.co and http://www.pa.deli.pro/Koh-shibasaki. Neither of these two actually exists, though the first link contains a reference to Touhou Project. Interestingly, the chakuari text from the Touhou URL actually references the 2003 Japanese horror film One Missed Call (also referred to as Chakushin Ari 着信アリ). In the film, characters receive mysterious cell phone voicemails, a detail that explains why the man in the scribbled, green-tinted photograph is holding a phone. The film was also released around the same year as the screamer.
