This is currently the recommended way to permalink. Before, it was recommended you put the video into ssyoutube.com and put the link into archive.org, however, ssyoutube '''and y2mate''' are blocked in the United States and parts of googlevideo.com are blocked on archive.org. The [https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp yt-dlp] project can also be used as an alternative.
There are two ways to permalink a video or anything else on the wiki. First is through IPFS (highly recommended) and the other is with PreserveTube (for YouTube videos). This page provides instructions for both.

Because regular IPFS uploads don't function reliably, pinata.cloud is used instead since it offers free storage and straightforward file uploads.

It is recommended you use Brave Browser (new private tab with TOR if in the US since y2mate is blocked in the US), or an adblocker like uBlock Origin for this since Y2mate is LITTERED with ads. Y2mate is the best for this since you can download the video in the max resolution. If you do not wish to use Y2mate (or you live in the United States), you can use Invidious (invidio.us), but Invidious does not support downloading the max resolution (with video and audio).

Paste the video URL into '''loader.to''' (or any other working video downloader) and download the video in the highest resolution possible. Loader.to is the best for this since it allows you to download the video in the highest resolution and is easy to use (it is recommended to use an adblocker for this site).
