IT, also more commonly known by its main form as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, is the titular main antagonist of the 1986 novel IT by Stephen King (and subsequent television and film adaptations).

IT is an ancient, otherworldly, and eldritch cosmic entity that takes the form of one's worst terrors (particularly of children) before feeding on them. Since crash-landing onto Earth, IT terrorized a region that would become the township of Derry, Maine, all while taking the form of a dancing clown named Pennywise in modern times. It would become the archenemy of the Losers Club (primarily Bill Denbrough, the older brother of deceased Georgie Denbrough, who seeks to avenge him), being the main reason the group was formed.
