Fun Quiz (たのしいクイズ) is a Japanese mobile game developed by Nao Yanase in 2018.
Gameplay
The game presents itself as a normal quiz game, featuring an Easy Mode for starters. Upon losing all three hearts in Easy Mode, the player is presented with a choice between two buttons, one to return to the game mode screen and the other to return to the title screen. However, upon completion of Easy Mode, the player is given access to the "Normal" difficulty level where the game takes an unsettling turn. In Normal Mode, players are presented with a series of questions until the fourth question, which begins with gibberish text and a seemingly unrelated answer.
Fourth question
Upon reaching the fourth question, players are presented with a question consisting of gibberish text and an associated answer. Unlike the previous three questions, players are unable to select any answer choices, leaving them to ponder the nonsensical question. After 20 seconds into the question, the screen will begin to glitch, causing the gibberish text to overflow beyond the borders of the question box. Furthermore, the answer buttons will scatter across the screen, accompanied by additional gibberish text, unsettling audio, and vibrations from the player's device.
Upon completion of the glitched question, the player is presented with an unusual sequence of events. The question screen will remain on the player's device, albeit with no visible text or content. Instead, the answer box will be filled with Japanese characters that fade in and out intermittently. The screen will then transition to an ominous black background, with random red-colored text appearing. Suddenly, an illustration of a girl (created by the artist Irasutoya) will appear on the screen.
Following this, the game returns to a more conventional format, featuring a press-the-button minigame. In this minigame, the player is challenged to accumulate 100 points by pressing the "button" repeatedly. However, the game is designed to deceive the player into believing that the black button is the correct one to press. If the player presses the black button more than 22 times, they will be greeted with a close-up image of a Japanese doll, accompanied by a disturbing sound and vibrations from the player's device. The actual way to score 100 points in the minigame is to press the "「ボタン」" text rather than the black button.
Once the player reaches 100 points, the game ends and the screen turns red with additional gibberish text. Pressing the first button leads the player to the title screen, which now has a red background. Upon pressing the start button, the game directs to a series of lengthy quizzes instead of the game modes.
