A shock site is a website that is intended to be offensive or shocking to most of its viewers, containing shocking material which is considered distasteful and crude, and is generally of a pornographic, scatological, or extremely violent nature. In most cases, a shock site displays a single picture, some shock sites also show animations or galleries of images, shock sites are often passed around via email or disguised in posts to discussion sites as a hoax in an attempt to trick readers into following the link to the website. / The news and discussion site Slashdot has changed its software to display the domain name of a linked URL in brackets following the link (example: "[news.example.com/ Click Here] [example.com]"), so that any link to goatse.cx or a similar shock site would be immediately visible as such. The change has been effective in reducing the number of links to shock sites even though trolls began to set up mirror sites and use public CGI redirect scripts run by sites such as Yahoo! in an attempt to circumvent the measure.

This site gives a list (over 150 kilobytes!) of shock sites, and a description of the sites, to enable people to avoid being trolled into visiting them, and will continue to be expanded with a list of these sites.

It's a scat video, but features scat eating and vomit eating in up close detail that rivals SWAP.avi. The only thing that makes this video less offending is the fact that it is much shorter and the background music is amusing in the out-of-place sort of way. :puke: :hurl: barf: :vomit:

Since it's debut, 2girls1cup has made a huge impact, with numerous response videos on YouTube, [www.funnyordie.com/videos/26050ea6ee a parody video by John Mayer], and even a spin-off site called 2girls1finger. (see Other Shock Sites)

Goatse.cx

Goatse is the most famous shock site of all time, which is currently for sale, and it contains a picture on the front page, (hello.jpg), of a man holding his massive, distended anus wide open, revealing his engorged rectum and insides, and showing off his swollen anal sphincter. He wears a gold wedding ring, and his flaccid, circumcised penis and testicles dangle down. It also had links to www.dolphinsex.org/ and www.urinalpoop.org/, and it once had a link to www.biganal.com/ (all of which are now occupied by cybersquatters). Goatse is one of the most popular and classic shock sites. The original goatse.cx website was taken down by the [www.pulau.cx/ Christmas Island authorities], and the original domain, goatse.cx, was pointed to [www.blackraven.cx www.blackraven.cx] (masked in an HTML frame) by the NIC .cx authority in January 2004, but SEVERAL mirrors exist, including goatse.fr/, which also manages to preserve the original phonetic appeal. Blackraven.cx is also [www.seobidding.com/buy/auction/blackraven.cx for sale], costing 700$.

The [goatse.cx current goatse.cx site] had previously consisted of a suspension notice, and later, consisted of spam. After that, it had merely consisted of a white page, with this note:

"This domain is available for sale!

You can [www.seobidding.com/buy/auction/goatse.cx buy it NOW] for only $ 500000 !!!", in rather large letters.

It now consists of the note, AND spam.

As of January 14, 2004, the domain goatse.cx was taken offline. But many mirrors of the site are still available, and the image is displayed on many websites. The most common mirror was goat.cx; but this, like its predecessor, was taken offline as of February 22, 2005. As of February 27, the domain goat.cx, like goatse.cx, was suspended by the Christmas Island Internet Administration; but it appeared, as of April 2005, to be back online showing only the message "eat my goatse'd penis!" As of May 2005, there is an image on the site showing a pumpkin with some hands around it as if it is stretching its anus.

Hick.org/goat/ also became used instead of the original location, but the hick.org link now displays a 404 error. :'-(

• www.hick.org/goat/

The goatse.cx domain name was reported sold at an Auction on 30 April 2007 to an unknown bidder. According to seobidding.com, the first auction ended with fake bids so the auction was reactivated. This was again won by fake bidders, so Seobidding.com announced that the website would be sold for $500,000 and that legal action would be pursued against the fake bidders.

At some point at the start of March 2007, the registrar reclaimed the domain from its legal owner, with no notification or justification and put the domain up for sale. No citation is possible, as the registrar refused to provide any communication or correspondence about the cancellation and claim on the domain.

A common acronym for the site is Guy-opens-ass-to-scare/show-to-everyone.

The site used the .cx country code, the top-level domain of Christmas Island, whose operators will not disclose registrants' personal information. The actual server of Goatse.cx was not located on Christmas Island, but in the United States and is owned by [wwww.hick.org/ Hick.org], a website about computer programming and bathroom humor. The Hick.org domain was registered by Matt Miller in Overland Park, Kansas. Both Goatse.cx and Hick.org originate from the same IP address; the server is located in the Kansas City, Missouri metro-region. Goat.cx, formerly a mirror of Goatse.cx, was located in the Dallas, Texas metro-region, while current mirror [www.goatse.cz/ Goatse.cz] seems to be located in Clifton, New Jersey.

"[femse.com/ femse.com]" and "[goatshe.cx/ goatshe.cx]" are female versions of Goatse.

Lots of tributes to Goatse have been made. :) :D Someone even [img515.imageshack.us/img515/323/bbcgoatseolympicsew2.jpg tricked the BBC into displaying a Goatse tribute picture on their site] for a while before it was taken down. Yes, in June 2007, a parody of the highly derided 2012 Summer Olympics logo appeared on the BBC News website under the alternative Olympic Logo entries and was broadcast on their BBC News 24 channel. Two hands were pulling the 0 from 2012 apart. The image was later shown as part of a gallery of viewers logos on BBC London News and BBC News 24, but was subsequently removed from the website. The editor of the BBC News website acknowledged the mistake in his blog, saying his team "simply didn’t spot it". :) LOLZ!!1 ^_^

Goatse.cx had four sections, two of which had images intended to shock the viewer:

• The "Receiver" page, titled "Eh", showing the aforementioned hello.jpg. Hello.jpg has the alt attribute "stinger". Before the picture is the text in black, "The goatse.cx lawyer has informed us that we need a warning! So.. if you are under the age of 18 or find this photograph offensive, please don't look at it. Thank you!" This text was not a sincere warning, as hello.jpg is very close to it. This is also a paradox, as one cannot find the photograph offensive without having seen it first. Yet again, it also had links to www.dolphinsex.org/ and www.urinalpoop.org/, and it once had a link to www.biganal.com/ (all of which are now occupied by cybersquatters). The text below hello.jpg reads, "IMPORTANT NOTE: There are many merchandising attempts for goatse.cx around the web-- none of them are real, none of them are official. Do not buy this gimmick merchandise. The official goatse.cx merchandise is coming soon!" The image was often disguised as something innocuous, such as happypuppies.net, a goatse.cx mirror site, that was online around 2001 or 2002.
• The "Giver" page, titled "Woah", shows a picture (giver.jpg) of a man reclining in an orange convertible (later versions show him on a yacht or speedboat of some kind, with ocean or river waves in the background). He looks very pleased with himself, and has a massive, thick, oversized penis which reaches up to his chest. The length and girth of the mentioned penis is exaggeratedly anatomically disproportionate to the rest of the man's body; the photo shows obvious signs of being "photoshopped" or otherwise graphically altered for shock value or humor. This means that the whole website is in fact one big anal sex joke: the receiver is stretching his anus so the giver can insert his oversized penis into him (another way of looking at this, is that the receiver's anus has been completely devastated by the size of the giver's monster cock).
• The "Feedback" section, where e-mails are exhibited.
• The "Contrib" section showcasing visitor contributions to the site. Contrib has additional variations of hello.jpg and giver.jpg, as well as other images and files. The title of this page is "Contributed Work". The things included on the "Contib" page include:

  • goatse-wwii.jpg is a picture of a large snowball, with "goatse.cx" written on the side, chasing Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, and Hideki Tojo.
  • giver2.jpg is a picture of the Goatse giver holding his oversized penis.
  • magiceye.jpg is a Magic Eye picture. The initial image, a legitimate autostereogram of a helix, changes after about 16 seconds to that of a lower resolution, 256 color version of hello.jpg. It attempts to fool viewers by exploiting the fact that, although the server sends a MIME type stating the filename is a JPEG image, the image is in fact an animated GIF.
  • warning.jpg is a warning sign picture telling people not to go to goatse.cx
  • goatsex.swf is a Flash Movie, set to the hook from "MMMBop" by Hanson. The movie shows a large dildo being inserted into the anus of the man posing in hello.jpg. The background is from another gap.zip picture, gap8.jpg.
  • Goatman.mp3 is an MP3 Music file. It takes up 518 KB.
  • Foxy_goatse.mp3 is another mp3 music file, a parody of the Jimi Hendrix song Foxy Lady. It takes up 1061 KB.
  • goatsecx-winamp.zip is a ZIP file containing a Winamp skin, depicting hello.jpg. It takes up 313 KB.
  • hello.mpg is a movie, first showing the text "HI" on a black background, followed by shots of gap.zip pictures. At the end of the movie, the following text appears next to a picture of a teenage boy:

  • bush.jpg is a picture of George W. Bush, with hello.jpg on his computer.

People sometimes link to goatse.cx images not shown on the actual webpages, such as loopback.jpg, a picture of a man looping his penis into his anus. There are also numerous other files in the directory www.goatse.cx/contrib/.

The image hello.jpg originates from a set of 40 images depicting the man performing various anal sexual acts. In those images, the man used dildos and butt plugs to stretch his anus. The images were located by Stile Project and are also available from the "Contrib" section of the goatse.cx website under the filename gap.zip. hello.jpg is the third file in the archive, gap3.jpg.

Goatse.cx also had a robots.txt file at one point, which is archived by the Internet Archive, [web.archive.org/web/20011020202312/goatse.cx/contrib.html here].

The man in the Goatse.cx pictures is believed to be a man named Kirk Johnson.

Because many frequent Internet users have been tricked into viewing the site at one time or another, it has become something of an Internet meme. As such, hello.jpg and the other images on the site are common subjects of parodies and tributes.

Some notable Goatse tributes include:

• The book Building Accessible Websites by Joe Clark features a cover that bears a striking resemblance to hello.jpg.

• Unreal Tournament 2004 features an assault level called as_junkyard for which the final objective is to move the Hellbender through an object that bore similarity to the Goatse.cx anus.

• The online role-playing game Kingdom of Loathing features two tributes-

• • While fighting a [thekolwiki.net/wiki/Spam_Witch Spam Witch] - "She shows you a picture of her pet goat. 'This is my goat, see?' she says. Dear god, the horror."

• • In an adventure during The Daily Dungeon called "Seriously, I Just Read It For the Articles." If the adventurer does not have sleaze resistance, s/he buckles down and looks at a centerfold, only to have it be from the magazine "Secret World of Goatse."

• Alex Albrecht of Diggnation fame made a reference to Goatse.cx on episode 20 of Tiki Bar TV. The Tiki Bar crew were having Internet bandwidth issues, and Alex (playing the character "Son of the Internet"), said that their issues were affecting the whole Internet. - "Goatse's down, people are happy about that."

• The video game web comic VG Cats featured a [www.vgcats.com/othercomics/?strip_id=10 comic], referencing the goatse.cx picture, although the actual image was not shown.

• Following Hurricane Charley in August 2004, a photograph purporting to show "the hands of God" in the cloud formations in the aftermath of the disaster circulated via email. The image was eventually proven to be a photoshopped Goatse parody. Also, there is a Snopes article about this picture, [www.snopes.com/photos/natural/godhands.asp here].

• The cover of the 20 September 2004 edition of Time magazine bore a striking resemblance to hello.jpg.

• In May 2007, the third place winner in "The BioShock Cover Art Contest", involving designing the limited edition box for the video game Bioshock, is a reworking of Goatse, including the ring on the ring finger of the left hand.

• As already mentioned, in June 2007, a parody of the highly derided 2012 Summer Olympics logo appeared on the BBC News website under the alternative Olympic Logo entries and was broadcast on their BBC News 24 channel. • In July 2007, an Internet Hoax was submitted to digg.com and other social media sites. The hoax claimed that the Goatse image made it on to CNN during the CNN-YouTube Presidential Debates. The news made it big until people realized that it was just photoshopped images.

Hai2U

Hai2U contains a picture of a woman vomiting while performing fellatio. It appears that her partner had been holding onto her hair, and must have poked the back of her throat. The website has the tagline 'Hot Blow Job'. Hai2U is one of the most popular shock sites. It can be found at www.hai2u.com/

The girl in the picture, puke.jpg, is Leanni Lei. The picture is supposedly taken with a guy called 'Max' from maxhardcoreporn.net.

Last Measure

The ultimate shock site. Last Measure, created by members of the trolling group GNAA, (specifically, penisbird and Rucas), abuses an incredible amount of Adobe Flash scripts to cause numerous extremely undesirable effects. Mainly, it spawns an indefinite amount of pop-up windows with various famous shock site images in them, moving around in pop-up windows, bouncing off the sides of the screen, while it also plays a voice, using the Adobe Flash plugin, shouting, "HEY EVERYBODY, I'M LOOKING AT GAY PORNO!!!!!!!!!!" at a high volume. The voice in previous Last Measure versions was in the file fsckyou.wav.mp3 (fsck is a Unix utility that checks filesystems for consistency, but is used in this context as a modified version of the word "fuck"). It also attempts to send emails using the user's default email program, and to hi-jack your e-mail program, so that you will spam a newsgroup of it's choice. The only way to stop the popups are to restart the computer (or be lucky enough to close the browser before it starts); as the ctrl and alt keys are disabled. It also gives out trojans and viruses and completely messes up your computer. This site uses JavaScript to delete your browser history, settings, cache, cookies, bookmarks (Favorites in Internet Explorer) and e-mail program settings (including accounts). It also attempts to crash your browser. The [www.lastmeasure.com current, offical Last Measure site] has more information about the history of the site, the source code for Last Measure, and a database of other Last Measure mirrors that you can use. Although, it previously WAS Last Measure, and was then changed into a version of Last Measure that did not cause/contain pop-ups, before being changed to the current website. ;) ^_~

• Tubgirl, a picture of a woman anally expelling an orange enema on her face (commonly thought to be feces, but is really just orange juice, according to the so-called experts at Wikipedia.)
• Penisbird, a picture of a parrot standing on a man's erect penis. This initially appeared on Rotten.com.
• Goatse.cx's hello.jpg, the infamous picture of a man stretching his anus.
• Lemonparty, a picture of three elderly men lying on a bed naked, engaged in kissing and oral sex.
• pillowfight.jpg, a picture of a man's genitals covered in feces.
• spin.gif, commonly known as "Ridin' Spinnaz" on YTMNSFW or "Meatspin." An animated picture of transsexual porn star Cristina Bianchini receiving anal sex from her male co-star. Cristina's penis is spinning in a circle. Taken from the film "TSBitches."
• Loopback.jpg (from Goatse.cx), a picture of a man looping his penis into his anus.
• Christmas.jpg, depicts a picture of a man opening his anus with a table lamp. His penis and testicles are also visible.
• pooped.jpg, a picture of a woman's face, covered in feces.
• rustina.jpg, depicts the wife of Rusty Foster, creator of Kuro5hin. Her face is photoshopped onto a picture of a naked woman having sex with a black man with a large penis.
• eww.jpg, a picture of a young girl, with two naked people in the background, with one of the people exposing his buttocks. The text The Fuck What?! in red is visible, with the man's naked buttocks circled in a red circle.
• freak.jpg, a picture of a naked, black female body builder.
• Some versions contain weightlifter.jpg, a picture of a powerlifter with red trousers suffering from an anal prolapse. The intestine is seen through a hole in his trousers. Though originating at Rotten.com, a Snopes article features the same image.

The text "GNAA > j00 fristage postage is mine" is seen at the top of the page. At the bottom of the page is the text "Lastmeasure last measure last-measure nero institute", which is an attempt to get the page listed under Google. The title of the page is "Our lawyer has informed us that we need a warning. So, if you are under the age of 18 or find this offensive, please leave immediately", which is a takeoff on the text on the front page of Goatse. On two of the Last Measure pages, the text "Like what you see? Got a complaint? Email wrt AT forpresident DOT com", is visible.

The page at Zeikfried had the title "This is my LastMeasure, my FinalHope. Lovez and kissez from Zeikfried~!" The page at peoplesprimary.com had a wide, blank image at the bottom of the screen. Below it were the words "If you have a screen larger than this i'll eat my own shit. - this button shit is +1 insightful." The "+1 insightful" comment indicates a familiarity with the rating system at Slashdot, a popular technology news site.

Again, it also attempts to hi-jack your default e-mail program, to COMPLETELY wreak havock. ;) ^_~

It may also attempt to make unauthorized changes to your PC.

Pressing Ctrl or Alt, under Internet Explorer on Windows, gives the "victim" an alert message with the same text. Pressing Del gives the user the "Credits".

Last Measure abuses Adobe Flash to make it very hard to leave the website once the victim visits it, short of shutting down the computer or killing the process of the web browser. It spawns pop-up windows indefinitely, effectively making the browser a fork bomb. Previous versions used JavaScript to the same end, but the growing use of pop-up blockers reduced its effectiveness, prompting the switch to Flash scripts. The latest version of Last Measure, called Last Measure Unified, uses mailto links to open a large number of new e-mail message windows in the user's default e-mail program (in most cases, Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird). Apparently, due to the specifications of the mailto URI scheme, Last Measure isn't able to retrieve contact info from a user's contact list or send any e-mails, however, due to the proliferation of spam bots and the fact that these links are formatted in a way that they spawn several email drafts with the headers To: and Subject: and the body of the e-mail pre-filled, many users are tricked into thinking that Last Measure is actually trying to send e-mails. Although, many sources state different things. Frankly, it probably all depends on which version of Last Measure you clicked on, and Last Measure is constantly being updated. It also spawns the default WMA handler as well as the default telnet, nntp/news, ed2k, and IRC handlers.

The only way to stop the popups on Windows is to manually close the browser application in the Process List, via the Task Manager (for instance, iexplore.exe for Internet Explorer or firefox.exe for Firefox). In many instances this will fail and the browser will respawn or the task manager will be closed. Another option for windows based systems is to press alt-f4 as it will quickly end the process. Mac users can do this, regardless of browser, by pressing Command-Q. It is also problematic to remove in Opera, as that restores sites from the previous session after it has been closed and re-opened, which restarts the process.

The Last Measure site also has a script that automates the displaying of these things, which has recently been removed from the front page of the original domain.

A HUGE shock site, hosting just about EVERYTHING. ^_~ Rotten.com is a United States-hosted shock site with a slogan of "An archive of disturbing illustration", and operated by Soylent Communications. It is devoted to morbid curiosities, primarily pictures of gruesome fatalities, deformities, autopsy or forensic photographs, depictions of perverse sex acts, and historical curios that are disturbing or misanthropic in nature. The site was founded in 1996, and its format has changed very little since that time. It has gotten many lawsuits, for example; the dead pictures of family members, as with other similar shock sites. There is absolutely nothing that is considered taboo on this site. They even have people eating babies! :puke: This is a very (in)famous, controversial, well-known, and popular shock site.

Again, Rotten.com has been threatened with lawsuits many times over the years, most in form of cease and desist citations. Rotten.com was started by a California Bay Area BBS sysop in 1996. According to the rotten.com FAQ, it began as "a 'what should I do with this domain now that I blew a hundred bucks on it' exercise."

Ogrish.com was a shock site which presented uncensored news coverage and multimedia material based for the most part on war, accidents, executions, and crimes.

Much of the material depicted was graphic, uncensored, gory videos and images. The content was depicted as a means to challenge the viewer, with its catch line being 'Can you handle life', but later changed to 'Uncover Reality' after the site received a major design overhaul with aims of becoming more open to the general public and become a respected 'alternative news service'.

The domain now redirects to [www.LiveLeak.com/ Liveleak.com], a site registered in October 2006, billed as the successor of ogrish.com and featuring mostly user submitted videos and allowing the embedding of media on other sites.

Users can now access the archived Ogrish site via the [web.archive.org/web/20060427143834/www.ogrish.com/index2.html web archive], containing the site as it existed the last time it was online.

One of the most well-known, (in)famous, notorious, and controversial shock sites on the web. It is perhaps better known under the name Ogrish. However, the site's name and URL has now been changed to Liveleak, and it has now billed itself as an "uncensored news" source. The original Ogrish URL now redirects to Liveleak. Ogrish.com was incorporated into LiveLeak.com on October 31st, 2006. This site is somewhat similar to rotten or Consumption Junction. What is unique about the LiveLeak site is that it actually has filters, and not everything on there is shocking.

In addition to regularly updated front-page submissions, such as videos, Ogrish.com also offered a forum, blog, and wiki. Ogrish previously offered a subscription service to its archive; however, this service was discontinued sometime in late June to early July for unknown reasons. In February 2005, Ogrish began publishing OgrishMag, a magazine featuring gore images and articles about violent death and contents similar to those from the site. Such images' origins are questionable, as in order for a gory image to be taken, there must first be a gory event. The website often hosted content that was considered offensive or objectionable by many people.

Ogrish's infamy peaked when photos of World Trade Center "jumper" victims emerged on the site, along with photographs of other 9/11 victims, shortly after the terrorist attacks.

The site contained pictures of domestic incidents such as car crashes, murders, and various other accidents. It also hosted images from the ongoing Iraq War, other conflicts, and acts of terror. Due to the nature of the content of Ogrish.com, it had been banned in Germany.

The media hosted on Ogrish.com was, according to the manager of the site, Dan Klinker, retrieved by the site's staff, or was submitted freelance by emergency workers and others who had access to such media. Ogrish.com used scripts that monitored jihadist websites for uploads of videos and images, and also crawled the internet for footage.

Examples of popular material on the site included the decapitation of American contractor Nick Berg, which had been downloaded fifteen million times, the execution of a Russian soldier in Chechnya, and the murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. According to the site, average daily hits ranged in the low hundred thousand, and sometimes rose to 750,000 on a "bad news" day.

Ogrish originally featured four grades of 'shocking' material, the 'lightest' being titled for babies, and the most severe being titled for maniacs. The 'babies' section would include, for example, people jumping from the burning World Trade Center on 9/11, being run over by cars, etc., while the 'maniacs' section included, for example, a home video of some guys breaking into what looked like a medical school dissection lab, and sawing the top from a cadaver's skull in a very grotesque, crude way, and tearing the brain out of it. Other examples in this section included a close-up video of a russian soldier's head being cut off with a hunting knife, while his screams turned to gurgles then silence. Another example was a video of the end results of a tribal battle in Africa; a captured warrior had his penis held out, and as the knife was brought down to cut it off, a stream of urine came out (before the knife started cutting) due to the person's fear.

The site hosted many graphic videos of violent events, without the permission of the families of the people shown. This has led to heated arguments concerning the rights of the people pictured and the nature of the pictures and videos on the site. For example, in 2002, graphic pictures and videos of the unfortunate jumpers of the September 11, 2001 attacks were displayed on the site. The site was targeted for hacking attacks from Koreans after Ogrish uploaded the execution video of Kim Sun-il during the summer of 2004. In September of 2005, graphic pictures of Hurricane Katrina victims were posted on the site.

The domain name ogrish.com was registered on June 18, 2000 and was originally run by an operator using the handle "Evil Knevil". Since 2002 or 2003, the site, hosted in the U.S., was headed by the Dutchman Dan Klinker. [citation needed] The company sometimes paid for original submissions of video, but also automatically monitored Arabic websites for material posted by militants.

In August 2005, German official internet watchdog group [www.jugendschutz.net Jugendschutz.net] contacted the local branch of telecommunications company Level 3 about Ogrish, whose IP address was then blocked in Germany. Since several ISPs connect through the blocked Level 3 connection in Frankfurt, Germany other countries outside of Germany were also affected by this block, including: Netherlands, France, Poland, Italy and Switzerland. The Youth Protection group had found that the provider violated German legislation that requires websites to verify the age of its visitors before granting access to adult content. When pictures and footage of the Madrid train bombings appeared on Ogrish, the site was blocked by Spain and ordered to be taken offline. These orders were however not pursued.

In early 2006, for the first time since it started, Ogrish.com changed its design to a much faster-loading, cleaner layout. Its previous layout was very "dark" and graphic-intensive. On January 27, 2006 the "Flame/Lame/Hate" section was replaced with The Ogrish Zoo, a more politically correct version that forbade racial slurs. This change lasted barely a day, and after some consideration was finally replaced with "The Underground", a private and hidden member group accessible only at the request of an established member to an administrator. On April 21st Ogrish closed this section, finally making the transition from a "Gore" website to an "Uncensored News" website. Liveleak, based in the UK, is a website that lets users post and share videos, similar to sites like YouTube, but it allows some sexual content and emphasizes reality-based footage such as war scenes from various parts of the world, grisly accidents, executions, and crimes.

The site does not make it easy to download videos for local viewing or editing, but a third-party Greasemonkey user script is available for that purpose. Recently, a "Download Video" option has appeared that allows you to download only Featured Media Items off their site in FLV format.

Your Say is a section on the LiveLeak website in which users can upload their own videos, much like a Vlog. Unlike YouTube the Vlogs on LiveLeak are of a much more political viewpoint and are known for people putting across their points in a much more forthright manner. A good point with the Your Say section as apposed to many other Vlogging websites is that when your material is uploaded, it is displayed first on the list. This ensures everyones opinion(s) and video is watched and listened to.

On 30th July 2007, the BBC program(me) "Panorama" broadcast a show about how young people were getting physically assaulted and knocked unconscious. When Panorama queried the "extremely violent videos" that had been posted to LiveLeak's website, the co-founder, Hayden Hewitt, refused to have them taken down and stated "Look all this is happening, this is real life, this is going on, we're going to show it." This prompts the question as to whether the videos would convince young children, as young as 11 or 12, that knocking other children unconscious is acceptable and normal. *snicker*

It is worth mentioning that LiveLeak claims there are relatively few such videos on the site and should the uploaders be found to have been involved in the filming and/or involved in a violent attack they (Liveleak) will aide the police with any prosecutions. Following a conversation with the co-founder of LiveLeak I must question the accuracy of a two hour interview cut down to a couple of sound bites. This also raises the question of parents responsibilities in policing their childrens' activities online as well as being aware as to what their children have on their video phones. *laugh*

In early 2007, the site was blocked by Google, or more specifically, Liveleak did not appear in a list of search results. Other search engines such as Yahoo however did list Liveleak, which led to accusations that Google deliberately failed to list Liveleak in its index as it is a potential rival to YouTube. Many theories have come about, including people blaming LiveLeak themselves for making an error with the Robot.txt. This does not explain how other url's pointing to Liveleak were indexed when the .com was not. As of April 16, 2007 Liveleak has been re-inserted into the Google index. It should be pointed out the site admins/owners made no claims of the site being blocked intentionally.

This website actually has quite a long and colorful history, as described below.

From Jan - Apr 2006, the page was entitled 'RIDE THE HOSS BABY, RIDE THE HOSS!!. Below this, there is the text 'DRINK UP QUEER', after which you see the horse in full swing, followed by all the pictures of the penis/massive testicles expanded into a jar, and finally the text 'welcome to the end of your happy place faggot', and the picture of very expanded testicles not in a jar.

From August 7, 2007, the page title is still "WANNA DISCO?? WANNA SEE ME DISCO!??!", but the massive testicle pictures have all been removed. It now just says "DRINK UP QUEER", with the animated horse cock .gif image, below it, with several adverts, also.

alt.tasteless is a Usenet newsgroup dedicated to the discussion of tasteless and offensive subjects. It was founded in 1989, (yes, you read that right). :-) This may well be the very first shock site ever made. :-)

Also, many shock images and movies have been posted here. :-)

alt.tasteless is frequented by a diverse readership, most of whom share stories and insights which would not be welcome in other forums or in polite conversation. It is in fact considered bad form to post anything in alt.tasteless which is not offensive to the point that it would be acceptable in most other situations. To that end, if one ever posts anything patently non-tasteless, it is customary to append on some tasteless anecdote or insight into any topic at all to render a post worthy of alt.tasteless.

alt.tasteless is an example of the sort of subject matter that the Alt hierarchy is intended for.

alt.tasteless was involved in a number of well-known newsgroup invasions (in which the members of one newsgroup engage in organized trolling of another newsgroup). The best-known incident was an invasion of rec.pets.cats in 1993, in which alt.tasteless members posted a bogus request for advice (how does one deal with noisome feline diarrhea?) and several outrageous replies (firing "copper-jacketed hollow-points" into the cat's anus, among others). • Apeshit - Spree killings, when someone flies off the handle and kills multiple people (usually it must be more than 2 or 3, although wounding enough people with intent to kill may lower the required number of deaths) in a short span of time (minutes or hours). As in "he went apeshit and blew away half the employees in the post office." As a noun used to refer to any such acts in general, one might also see "Apeshittery."

• CelebriDeath - Celebrity Death. The death of a famous or noteworthy person, often someone who was listed on the Alt.Tasteless Dead Pool.

• Crotch Fruit, or Sprog - Children. The plural form of "sprog" is usually "sproggen."

A story regarding this site featured on the front page of the Shrewsbury Chronicle in on the 8th December 2005. The name of the site is taken from the Shrewsbury College of Arts & Technology, which used to be known by the anagram SCAT. It was taken offline in 2005, displaying only the message "Site down now. :(", and providing links to e-mail the webmaster, and what is presumably the main site of the owner of ShrewsburyCollege.co.uk. This shock site was perhaps the only one to have appeared in a print newspaper, featuring in a front-page article of the Shrewsbury Chronicle on 8 December 2005. In the aforementioned article, the MP for Shrewsbury & Atcham, Daniel Kawczynski, mentioned that the site was brought to his attention by a fellow Member of Parliament. Looking for this site in The Internet Archive will pull up all sorts of weird things (including IRC chat and some weird stuff.) Porkhole

Porkhole was a bizarre site, that might show an innocent picture of a lit-up highway at night, and then switch to show a picture of two old men 69ing, in the spirit of Lemonparty! At the bottom, you could find two naked pictures of both of the old men, and the site also hosted much other stuff. Kenneth Pinyan (June 22, 1960 - July 2, 2005) was a Gig Harbor, Washington (a suburb of Seattle) resident who engaged in sexual activity with full-size stallions at a farm near the nearby city of Enumclaw, some of which he videotaped and distributed informally under the name Mr. Hands.

Pinyan's death at the age of 45 from accidental internal injury (perforated colon), in July 2005, received during a sex act being videotaped by a friend of his, was one of the most read stories in The Seattle Times for that year, and prompted the passing of a bill in Washington State prohibiting both sex with animals, and the videotaping of the same, some months later.

A documentary of the life and death of Pinyan, and the life led by those who came to the farm near Enumclaw as he did, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival 2007 under the title Zoo. It was one of 16 winners out of 856 candidates for the festival, and played at numerous regional festivals in the USA thereafter. Following Sundance, it was also selected as one of the top five American films to be presented at the "prestigious" Directors Fortnight sidebar at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.

The media outlets that reported the story withheld Pinyan's name. His name was revealed on national radio by talk show host Tom Leykis in the summer of 2005.

Prosecutors later determined that the horse, an Arabian stallion named "Bullseye" which had apparently regularly engaged in penetrative sex acts of this kind, had not been injured by being allowed to engage in sex in this manner. The photographer, 54-year old James Michael Tait of Enumclaw, was later charged with trespassing, since this act took place on a third party's property. A third man alleged to have been present was not charged as his identity was not proven by evidence. According to the Medical Examiner's Office, Pinyan "died of acute peritonitis due to perforation of the colon", and the death was ruled "accidental". A further source states that the stallion was owned by Pinyan, who merely boarded it at the property concerned.

Other factors surrounding the death were apparently that the deceased, concerned about appearing in hospital with an unusual internal injury and the effect on his security clearance as an engineer for aerospace company Boeing, had apparently refused his friends' urging to go to the hospital for several hours after being aware he was internally injured, and was either beyond treatment, or dead, when he finally reached ER. According to anonymous sources on forums where such material was distributed, he was considered very experienced at receiving anal sex from stallions, and had recognized the potential risk posed by such actions.

Reports suggest that despite seizing and examining carefully a large number of such videos from the property, no evidence of abuse was found.

After Pinyan died, prosecutors realized there was no obvious way to punish his associates, since bestiality was not illegal in Washington state. Says The Stranger: "The prosecutor's office wanted to charge [a friend of Pinyan's] with animal abuse, but the police found no evidence of abused animals on the many videotapes they collected from his home. As there was no law against humanely [having sex with] one horse, the prosecutors could only charge [him] with trespassing."

The Gummi Series

The (in)famous Gummi Series all depict a man putting objects into his urethra, or having objects put into his urethra, the most famous being the kids_in_sandbox video (see below). They were formerly hosted at www.fnord.org/gummi/. ^_~

The Gummi man's identity is unknown. :'-(

The photos of the Gummi man were found on the alt.sex.pictures usenet newsgroup around 1995/1996. They were placed on fnord.org in a "hidden" directory and the location was disclosed to friends but never publically published. Over the last decade, over 120,000 unique hits to the videos have been made. How the knowledge of the directory was propagated isn't exactly known. It is assumed that it was spread entirely by word of mouth, IRC and chat systems until bloggers and Internet forums became prominent.

The kids_in_sandbox video comes from an unknown adult movie. It was given to the owner of fnord.org around 2002 and added to the collection of Gummi man photos. Since then, it too propagated like mad, peaking in about 12,000 downloads a month in 2004.

All of the images and videos were temporarily removed due to bandwidth constraints but were made available again in September of 2005.

The rather shocking photo attached snapped in November 16th of last year by
a spectator at the collegiate power lifting championships at Penn State. The

described the trauma as an explosive and aggravated prolapse of the bowel".
Meanwhile it was revealed that the weight was removed from his shoulders at
the time of the incident by two "spotters" on either side of the lifter. The third
spotter who was standing behind the lifter was unfortunately sprayed with fecal
matter at the time of the incident. This spotter promptly fainted when he
realized the extent of of the injury to the lifter, who was a personal friend.

This compounded the task of first aid officers who were at a loss as to how to
treat the injury to the lifter in any case, who remained in the squatting position
moaning in pain much to the consternation of the helpless audience. The
hapless lifter had successful surgery to relieve the prolapse, but remained
immobilized with his feet elevated in stirrups for 2 weeks to ensure "internal
compliance with the surgery and that the organs retracted successfully".

Battlecenter
