Sad Satan is a horror game built with the Terror Engine. It was first reported by the channel Obscure Horror Center (also known as Jamie Farrel) on June 25, 2015, in a series of five videos. Due to its dark nature, it was covered by a number of different publications, spawning a subreddit community to discuss the game further. "Sad Satan was also known for its unofficial "true" version.

Following Kotaku's interview, a subreddit r/sadsatan was formed on the site Reddit to further discuss the game's lore and its origin. At some point, Jamie Farrel revealed the .onion address where the game was supposedly found, but users quickly realized that the link contained invalid characters. According to another interview from Kotaku published three days later, Jamie Farrel said that the link was purposely given in error since the game did contain graphic material and didn't want to take responsibility for disseminating such material, although it has been proven that there wasn't any such material included in the game or in the video.

On July 7, 2015, an anonymous user claiming to be ZK posted a thread on 4chan claiming that the "true" version of "Sad Satan" had not been covered by Obscure Horror Center. Below the snippet of text is the download link to that version, which actually included gore and child pornography instead of the images from the original. However, 4chan users who downloaded the game reported that their computers became unresponsive after running this version of the game; it was revealed to have a trojan installed with it. For instance, one user recalled that he attempted to play the game from a USB drive instead of the computer's hard drive, which caused his computer to fail to boot up normally.

- While playing the game, Jamie recalled that the game generated a shit ton of text files that are decipherable.
The player controls their character in a a dimly lit corridor while various audio samples are played and looped over each other. The majority of these are audio recordings of interviews with various murderers, including Charles Manson. Others are distorted and reversed musical clips, such as I Love Beijing Tiananmen and Led Zeppelin's rendition of Stairway to Heaven. Later in one of the videos, a slowed-down version of The Doors' "Alabama Song" can be heard, with the lyrics "Show me the way to the next little girl, oh don't ask why, oh don't ask why."
- The player controls their character through a monochromatic corridor, along with extremely loud sounds looped over and over, including audio samples and interviews with various murders. Distorted and reversed.
- The game shows images that prevents the player from progressing through the hallway for a while until it automatically closes. Some of these images references child abuse, especially (some shit here).
- The "true" version includes images of violent gore and child pornography instead of the images shown from the original, including a child struck over by the truck (a snapshot of two construction workers), beheaded corpses related to Richard Cottingham killings, as well as a woman licking a baby's genetalia.

All of these images from the original version are explained in each parts. A photo of Franz Joseph with his hunting trophies.

While the player controls their character through the hallway, images will intermittently display, preventing the player from progressing through the game. Most of these images often reference child abuse, especially people investigated and exposed in Operation Yewtree, such as images of Jimmy Savile and Rolf Harris. Other images involved crime, including a picture of the convicted child rapist and necrophile Tsutomu Miyazaki. Others included are photographs of Lady Justice, the deceased Cambodian footballer AndrΓ©s Escobar, and political figures such as an image of John F. Kennedy before he was shot.

In the "true" version of the game, the player walks through a monochromatic corridor where the images from the original are replaced with extremely graphic content, including the aftermath of a child struck over by a truck, beheaded corpses that relate to the case of Richard Cottingham, and child pornography that appears to show a woman licking a baby's genitalia.
Images in the True version includes G1, which depicts a child struck over by the truck; this is a screencap to an unedited video from LiveLeak. G2 and G3 depicts headless corpses related to Richard Cottingham killings, who was also known as "Torso Killer" and G4 shows a corpse of a headless baby. G5 is questionable to users; some people claimed that it was a woman licking a baby's genetalia. The woman in that image was identified as Corinne Danielle Motley, a Florida woman arrested for counts of child pornography.
