FunkyTown, often called FunkyTown Gore, among other variations, for clarity, is a shock video that is first known to have been uploaded to Kaotic.com on September 26th, 2016 by a user named PinkFloyd who titled the video "Shocking: Rival Gang Member Flayed Tortured and Beheaded". The video was filmed by either a Mexican street gang or a Mexican drug cartel.
Content
FunkyTown is a 2 minutes and 50 seconds long video of a young man being savagely tortured and tied up in a white-tiled, mostly empty room, while jarringly upbeat techno-style music plays in the background. The man is seen lying on the ground with his arms and legs tied up with what appears to be an extension cord or plastic wire. The man has his hands cut off at the wrists, his face skinned off, resulting in a bloodly skull, and his eyes gouged out while he lies in a pool of blood and screams, cries, and gurgles in pain while the murderers laugh at him. The man manages to get his arms untied and tries to reach for his face. The murderers slit the man's throat with a sickle and a box-cutter and shove a pole down his mouth to muffle his screams. The man was also drugged with substances such as adrenaline intravenously beforehand to keep him alive longer while the murderers torture him, but he is less likely to survive due to the severity of the wounds and infections being inevitable.

Background
Many viewers consider FunkyTown to be one of the worst gore videos online. The mysterious yet jarring nature of the video has sent some viewers looking for answers to questions such as where this video was filmed and who the man being tortured was. It is unknown who any of the people in the video are, including the man who is being tortured. The video does not capture the final moments when they end up completely killing the man. The torture was likely part of an execution, like many Mexican criminal organizations, they'll execute people in the most brutal way possible.[1] The myth that the victim in the video was a "poor avocado farmer" has been discussed and debated. Some commenters have claimed to have watched an extended version of FunkyTown on the deep web, though there is no proof of any such video existing. The accents heard in the video point to it originating in the Michoacán area.
On February 14th, 2021, a video titled "Hi" was uploaded to goretube.net by a user named UzeeeT. This clip is yet another drug cartel gore video but has an eerily similar setting to FunkyTown. In the video, some cartel members decapitate a man and play soccer with his head in a familiar-looking, white-tiled, mostly empty room. It's possible that the people behind FunkyTown are also behind this video. It's also possible that there are more murder videos out there that take place in that same dreaded room, filmed by the murderers who made FunkyTown.[2] On July 16th, 2023, the full FunkyTown video was uploaded to YouTube by a user named Mr Bist, albeit in low-quality. The video remained on the site for seven months and accumulating 54,000 views before it was taken down by YouTube on March 15th, 2024.

- Several songs can be heard in the background before Funkytown by Lipps Inc., including Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns n' Roses.
- The reason why the video is named "FunkyTown" is because the song with the same name by Lipps Inc. can be heard playing in the background ambiance at the end, hence the name.
- FunkyTown was included in the shock mixtape MDPOPE [Most Disturbed Person on Planet Earth] 3.
- Scroll Down also featured a low-quality GIF version of the video right before the name "FunkyTown" was attributed.
