BUZZBOUND - Shadows of Giygas is a YouTube video made by BigSharkZ. It is a pseudo-sequel to YouTuber Lumpy Touch's video BUZZBOUND - Cursed EarthBound Prequel.
The video begins with an image of a cartridge with the writing BUZZBOUND and the date 10-13-94 written with a black marker, along with a more unsettling version of Caverns of Winters playing in the background, followed by text appearing in order saying:
- "Recently, another BuzzBound prototype cartridge has been discovered by a collector who wishes to remain anonymous."
- "Dated October 13th 1994, it seems to be an earlier build, possibly having been in development for years."
- "The owner of this prototype refuses to dump the ROM out of fear for their life, sparking debates among archivists and collectors."
- "Some speculate it is due to the game's unsettling content as reports surfaced that the collector became ill after playing it."
- "Others theorized that the game's music could have triggered those reactions , similar to the Lavnder Town Syndrome."
- "Symptoms included but were not limited to nausea, nosebleeds, migraines, auditory hallucinations and a feeling of being watched."
- "Furthermore, the owner of the prototype also claimed the seller include strange figurines alongside the cartridge." When this text appears, the screen cuts to black.
- "One depicts Ness with an unsettling face and big smile, alongside what looks to be EarthBound's crashed meteorite." An image appears as described by the text.
- "The other looks like the Apple of Enlightenment in the form of a spaceship used by Buzz Buzz." An image appears as described by the text.
The video then cuts to a faint, dark moving Giygas with the following text:
- "The seller seemed to be in a hurry to give them away, but the collector ended up paying an undisclosed amount for them."
- "Shortly before vanishing without a trace, the collector made the decision to upload footageof the prototype gameplay."
- "Viewer discretion is advised . Watch at your own risk."
After that, the intro ends and the video begins with Giygas static, revealing a dull, monochromatic planet surrounded by flies, with tentacles at the bottom of the screen along with an unsettling low-pitched version of EarthBound's intro music, followed by the title BUZZBOUND in white, creepy-looking text. After that, the Debug menu is displayed with a monochromatic image of Ness in the background with an unsettling open smile, staring at the viewer, with a low-pitched version of Giygas' Lair playing along with slow, low-pitched, unsettling laughter. The menu includes the following options:
- GAME
- MAP SELECT
- BATTLE TEST
- ALARM CLOCK
- DELETE DATA
- ERROR LOG
- SOUND MODE
The second option is selected. After that, the following options are displayed:
- ONETTTAKOVER
- PAULACULT
- TWISTEDTHREED
- DARKMOONSIDE
- MANILAND
- FALLAAM
- MOONBASE
- GYIYGBIRTH
- HAPPYNESS - DO NOT LOAD
The first option is selected. From this point onwards, the game starts. It begins with a cutscene of an apple-shaped ship (referred to as the Apple of Enlightenment) flying at night with red clouds and UFOs present in the background, and a slowed-down, low-pitched version of The Evil Giygas Attacks! (Part 1) playing until the ship lands. The ship lands on same spot the meteor in Onett from the original EarthBound game, followed by Buzz Buzz emerging from the ship, along with a low-pitched, unsettling version of Threed, Zombie Central playing. Buzz Buzz examines statues of NPCs from the original game, followed by him asking the Apple of Enlightenment to scan for any signs of life, revealing none, followed by Buzz Buzz asking the Apple of Enlightenment to go invisible so that their presence remains undetected, then Buzz Buzz asking the Apple of Enlightenment if their are any survivors, with Apple of Enlightenment revealing one in a nearby house on the west. Buzz Buzz heads to the house but encounters the Coil Snake. During the battle, a low-pitched, unsettling version of Battle Against a Weird Opponent plays, with the Coil Snake eventually mutating into the Spoil Snake which has it's internal organs coming out of it's mouth with stalked eyes and a spiny appendage coming out of each side of it's body. After Buzz Buzz defeats it, he finds another snake, but evades it and enters the aforementioned house where he discovers Picky Minch. When approaching him, Picky coughs and Buzz Buzz heals him, followed by them leaving the house, then going inside a cave, where they encounter shadowy figures resembling Porky Minch (referred to as Neglected Shadows). They battle a set of three which are entirely black with a red mouth and eyes. After defeating the first set, they battle the next set, which look more unsettling than the last. The figure on the left has blood running down from it's eyes and mouth, the middle figure has a single realistic-looking red eye, and the right figure single red eye with a wide, red open smile. After they exit from the other side of the cave, they encounter a house-like enemy. Initially, only it's eyes are visible from the entrance, but eventually it comes out of the entrance, revealing a mutated, organ-like monster with claws and eyes on various parts of it body. The duo eventually defeat the monster, and head towards Ness's house, with Buzz Buzz entering it, while Picky stays outside. After Buzz Buzz enters the house, Picky gets killed offscreen. Inside the house, Buzz Buzz discovers a Magic Butterfly which joins him, followed by Buzz Buzz climbing up a ladder, head to the left only to discover a Giygas spawn and a UFO which chases him, until he reaches a door where he battles a Giygaspawn. Eventually the Giygaspawn uses a misery attack which causes the game to seemingly crash, until an anti-piracy screen with red text appears on a Giygas background. After that, the game cuts the game's files which include Buzz Buzz and Ness on a purple Giygas background. The Ness file is deleted, followed by the selection of the Buzz Buzz file. When the game starts, the Magic Butterfly is replaced with a solidified Paula with closed eyes and the first part of Paula's theme playing slowed-down and low-pitched. Buzz Buzz heads to the same door where he battled the Giygaspawn, where he discovers Ness's mother mutated and Tracy and King fused into a chimera, along with a box which contains the Devil's machine gun. After Buzz Buzz takes it, Ness's mother follows Buzz Buzz, but Buzz Buzz leaves the room, before she can reach him. Buzz Buzz then heads to a door that leads him to dark room, where a low-pitched version of Giygas' Lair plays, until he reaches another door where the Starman Prime appear and battles Buzz Buzz. Buzz Buzz defeats the Starman Prime, then heads to a cave where he doscovers Paula trapped in a red substance, who gives him PSI Fire. Buzz Buzz encounters a UFO-like enemy called the Shadow Invader, with a low-pitched version of Battle Against a Machine playing during the battle. During the battle, the Shadow invader summons the Spectral Mook, followed by the Starman Eclipse. After the battle ends, Buzz Buzz opens a box in which he finds and takes a Psycho's Lunch, then goes down a hole. After Buzz Buzz goes down the hole, he finds Ness who crawls towards Buzz Buzz but then disappears. After that Buzz Buzz goes into an entrance that leads him to Magicant in which he follows Ness' spirit, then opens a coffin in which he finds and equips the Wings of Gaia. After that, Buzz Buzz leaves Magicant, then enters a tunnel in which he discovers a large, growling shadowy monster, but Buzz Buzz gets away from it. Buzz Buzz goes to a location resembling Giygas' lair, where a low-pitched version of The Cliff That Time Forgot plays. In this location, Buzz Buzz fights the Doomsday Demon and Infernal Psychic Psycho. After the battle, Buzz Buzz goes to an Instant Revitalizing Device which seems to be talking until the text turns red and a moving Giygas appears which tells Buzz Buzz to go into a permanent sleep, followed by Buzz Buzz destroying the device. Buzz Buzz then discovers a Meteorite, then contacts the Apple of Enlightenment, which gets destroyed, followed by Ness's face appearing, then a battle beginning. During the battle "I miss you" can be heard in the background Buzz Buzz then used the Devil's Machine gun on Ness (who is referred to as Dark Ness), then the Starman Prime eppears, telling Buzz Buzz that Giygas has corrupted Ness's mind with pure evil intent. After that, the battle transitions to Ness with black eyes and red pupils, and an open mouth with creepier background music. Dark Ness then shrouds Buzz Buzz in a void of complete darkness. Ness's face appears entirely red on a black background, along with Buzz Buzz trying to use PSI, but is unable to due to being prevented from doing so by Giygas. Ness then smiles, and begins to brutally tear Buzz Buzz apart offscreen. After Ness is finished, a Giygas merged with Buzz Buzz is displayed in blue, followed by an orange-colored Earth with text scrolling describing Buzz Buzz's failure. After the text disappears, the screamer part of the video appears. It shows a cutscene of Dark Ness slowly laughing in a deep, unsettling manner, followed by him stopping the laughter, then his hair and cap disintegrating, and a third eye developing on his forehead, followed by him smiling, then developing Giygas' facial features with the screen shaking and gradually turning red, with Giygas fading into the background, then suddenly at 39:46, the screen zooms in to a realistic-looking image of a completely bald Ness with pale skin and smiling face with black eyes and a third eye with a red iris on a Giygas background, while wearing a red and black striped shirt appears with a child-like echoing scream, followed by a low-pitched "I miss you". After the the credits roll, then an after-credits scene appears with an adult Poo awakening, along with Mr. Saturn describing the events that took place on Earth, and Poo talking about the current events taking place on Earth.
