Nintendo Subliminal Messaging is a screamer video uploaded to YouTube by user thumperlarkey on September 16th, 2007. As of 2025, this screamer has amassed over 100K views.

Description

The video, created using Windows Movie Maker, begins with a remix of the Underground theme from Super Mario Bros. playing at a low volume level as the background music. During this, text on a default blue background appears, reading: "For years, Mario has been a favorite of video game players around the world. But what people don't know is that there was a subliminal message in one of the levels." A cover art of Super Mario World is then shown for a few seconds, before some more text appears, reading: “Specifically, the game was Super Mario World in the very first level. Here’s a screenshot of the level, try and see if you can see it.” Then, a screenshot from the level Yoshi's Island 1 is shown for a few seconds. Also shown on this screenshot is an incoherent vertical bar which looks similar to a cigarette, on the bottom left corner. Finally, an image of a bloody mask pops up afterwards, accompanied by a distorted scream. The image contains a link to a domain: frightprops.com.

The description of the video on YouTube prompts the viewer to look closely in the bottom left corner for the subliminal message. Also included below is a link to another video from the same channel, titled "Watcha Say?".
