M a r i o is a screamer video created and uploaded onto YouTube by a user SkyBlueCat on January 10, 2021.
Overview
The video is a horror-themed gameplay footage of the classic "Super Mario Bros." game on the NES console, featuring eerie and disturbing texts flashing on the screen randomly. The video begins innocuously enough, with Mario navigating through the game's various levels. However, at the 0:30 second mark, the first text appears, ominously spelling out the word "Death." This is followed by more distressing texts, including "Fear" and "Keep going, you will see death" at 0:32 and 0:34 seconds, respectively.
The unsettling atmosphere continues to build until the video freezes on Mario jumping on a question block at the 0:39 second mark. Suddenly, the screen cuts to a terrifying image of an eyeless figure with a gaping mouth, accompanied by loud, corrupted noises and a VHS overlay. Upon returning to the game's start menu, selecting the game takes the player to a strange level where Mario is the only visible object, with no music playing. Right after Mario is crushed, it immediately cuts into an edited picture of Boxxy with empty eye sockets appears, zooming in with an extremely loud noise before the video ends with the text "I hate you."
A sequel video, titled "Come Over Here," follows a similar pattern of gameplay and disturbing images. The video starts with a VHS overlay from the previous video and yellow text spelling out "Come Over Here," accompanied by a soundtrack from "The Town with No Name." The screen then cuts into the gameplay of "Super Mario Bros. 2," where Mario is on the strange level from the previous video. Running through the level reveals leaves forming the text "HELL," leading to an entry that takes the player to another level with a choice to go up or down. Going down reveals a gravel-like blockage, which the player can remove, leading to a disturbing image of Peach with a long neck eating Luigi's corpse. The video becomes more distorted with another static screen before cutting to Japanese text ("起きている") translating to "awake." Going up reveals a boxing glove that causes static on the screen when equipped. The video ends with an image of Jeff
