Zippocat

This page is about a partially lost shock video. |
Zippocat was a shock video published on July 22, 2005, to ogrish.com that later became an internet meme. The video depicts a small gray kitten getting held upside down by a German/Belgian man. A few seconds later, the man sets the cat on fire with a zippo lighter and burns it alive while continuing to record. The video was promptly removed and gained an unknown number of views before deletion. The video later became impossible to find on the internet.
YTMND
On June 8, 2007, a page on YTMND was created titled "Zippo cat" which is where the name originated from. The page contains an image displaying 15 still frames from the original video, showing the cat getting lit on fire. A text on the page reads "No, it's not alright ki", "No chapstick for you!". The page also plays E1M1 (At Doom's Gate) from the original Doom video game. Everything about the page, from the images to the music and the chapstick inside joke implies that the page was most likely made by some kid online with a weird sense of humor.
Many users 5'd (slang for rating something five stars) this page. On the comments of the page, a user called "Spotz" claimed "he 5'd" because of the Doom music, to which a user named "Gecko" replied, saying "Nothing justifies 5'ing burning kittens. Not even Doom music." Those four words at the end of the sentence later became an internet meme.
Creator's Murder
The administrators of the Ogrish.com website tracked down the video's uploader and the actual killer of the cat, which took them only two days. The uploader was a 15-year-old Belgium male and the actual killer was a 26-year-old Belgium male, and both men were eventually killed.
