(I don't love how links in tabber get hyperlinked (don't know how to fix), but the site itself is down so there's no screamer or anything)

Copy the code above and paste it on the [[wikipedia:Bulletin_board_system|bulletin board]] for the tag to be executed. If not, you will see something even more dreadful.

The code exploited [[wikipedia:Code_injection|HTML injection vulnerabilities]] to immediately refresh the page and redirect the sender and anyone viewing the thread to the screamer.

The Korean text roughly translates to "Copy the code above, send them to BBS and let them run. If not you will encounter even scarier things". The code provided is using HTML meta tag to invoke page redirection with a duration (immediate or 0 seconds in this case). It is speculated that on early BBSs that have HTML injection vulnerability, sending this code would cause an immediate redirect to the screamer after opening.

In October 2002, the image was published to two subpages of a private website belonging to a Chinese university student blog host, vip.6to23.com. Upon accessing the gui.htm page, the website immediately enters fullscreen mode, and open mm.htm as a popup. Upon opening, a dialog box that read 音量调到最大了吗?? ("Is the volume turned all the way up?") appeared.

Upon accessing the gui.htm page, the website immediately fullscreens itself, and open mm.htm as a popup. Upon opening, a dialog box that read 音量调到最大了吗?? ("Is the volume turned all the way up?") appeared. After clicking the OK button, the page displayed the Crazy Ghost image, and played g.wav, an audio file consisting of a female scream. The page opened another dialog box when the user attempted to leave the page, which read 哟,怎么你的胆量还可以啊 ("Well, you've got a lot of nerve"). Unlike mm.htm, gui.htm had no image or sound file in its source code, and was likely designed to to redirect the user to mm.htm.<ref>thetuburo.com/2021/12/28/crazy-ghost-gazou</ref>
