The player takes on Sonic in Act 9. During the game, Sonic discovers he was in a dark and empty place. As he ventures, Sonic goes through various traps like the bridge of spikes, and finds Eggman, thinking that Eggman was behind all of this. Eggman however, told Sonic that he was glad to see him and tells him that they need to escape from there, otherwise someone with finds them, he reveals that it was Zalgo, who is a fearsome devil that controls Tails' body, and promises that Tails might be alive somewhere. Sonic continues his progress and passes through many obstacles like a floor of spikes, and enters a cave, where a clone of Tails pops up in front of him and sends Sonic down into the ravine below, into a floor of blood.
