IPFS, or InterPlanetary File System, is a decentralized peer-to-peer way to host and share files. Screamer Wiki has adopted this method following the exclusion of Catbox from the Internet Archive as a way to make sure that screamers can stay archived forever.

How do I download an IPFS file?

On desktop, utilize a program such as IPFS Desktop. This program allows you to download and pin files. Once you download the program you can click under the files tab on the left rail Import>From IPFS then paste the the CID (for example: QmXjBpQ2e4dx8RB5dLzQW5Wx8CNj2zpjzBt2pFEUt4y8Xw), it'll then show up in your files and by clicking the three dots and clicking download you will successfully save the file.

Don't be a leech! Because IPFS is decentralized, that means that redundancy is key, if you download a file, make sure to pin it, which you can do by pressing the three dots (...) and clicking "Set Pinning." This is the equivalent to seeding a file on BitTorrent.

You can also use ipfs.io (https://ipfs.io/ipfs/CID, replacing the CID with the actual CID) to download files and it works the same way, but remember to not be a leech and to contribute to keeping files available and decentralized.

How do I contribute?

On IPFS Desktop, click Import, then File, then upload your file. The file will then show up and by clicking the three dots (...), you can copy the CID and use {{IPFS:CID}} to add that onto the wiki.
