Take a simple search query for "hats." In the past, Google would show you stock images of hats, or other images just grabbed from websites like Wikipedia, blogs, or the occasional ecommerce site. There was no pushy way to tell you which kind of site this stuff was coming from.

Wanna buy a hat?

Take a simple search query for "hats." In the past, Google would show you stock images of hats, or other images just grabbed from websites like Wikipedia, blogs, or the occasional ecommerce site. There was no pushy way to tell you which kind of site this stuff was coming from.

Today, Google has a huge rail that attempts to sell you hats. Also, many of the images themselves or taken straight from ecommerce sites.

Yandex, on the other hand, being a Russian company (and having sanctions existing), does not attempt to show any ads or even try to sell you anything. Most of the images are from stock image sites or Wikipedia, and there's not a single image from an ecommerce site, nor anything trying to sell you a hat.
