An in-depth guide on how to avoid screamers — by Sumpy

Screamers are a common thing to be found on the Internet. They can sometimes be taken comically by some people, but not so comically by others. Here are some of my personal tips on how to avoid them.

  • If you're on YouTube — Always pay attention to details like the key words, comments, ratings, related videos, and other sings like the video's length. If ratings or comments are disabled, you can still take some safety measures by previewing the video frames. This way, you will be able to confirm the presence of a screamer in the video. If the video is a screamer, the related videos will most likely include other screamer videos. Lastly, screamer videos also tend to make you concentrate on a centain point on the screen, so if a video tells you to put your volume up and to watch closely, it's most likely gonna be a screamer.

  • Always verify before clicking on anything — This is one of the most important points. Anyone can send you a screamer link, without you knowing it is a screamer. Always do research to know if the site you are going to visit is safe or not. If the link is shrunk (bit.ly links) use an URL expander to reveal the link. If you suspect a website for any reason, look up its name and you will get your answer. This way, you will save you lots of jumpscares.

  • Use the tools at your disposition — If you feel unsafe and need a good tool to help you stay away from screamers, the Screamer Wiki is always there for you. It is one of the most reliable sources of information that you can find about screamers. Almost 250 screamers are indexed in here, so you will certainly not fall for them. There are also a lot of tutorials about this subject, so if you want to be completely safe, you can go watch them. Here are some tutorials that I selected.

This was my guide on how to avoid screamers. Thanks for reading!
