The screamer page was located under the path /web/kongbu.htm.<ref>"kǒngbù" is [[wikipedia:Pinyin|pinyin]] for the word 恐怖, meaning "terror" or "horror".</ref> Links to this page appeared as early as on March 2002 on the homepage of the website. On the navigation bar under the website title, the last two items pointed to the screamer page:

== Spread in Japan ==
This screamer gained popularity in Japan alongside [[Crazy Ghost]]. However, due to the encoding mismatch between [[wikipedia:GB_2312|GB 2312]] and [[wikipedia:Shift_JIS|Shift-JIS]], the Chinese text became garbled. As a result, this screamer is known as 挫缶爾亜<ref>The [[wikipedia:Kanji|kanji]] in order is as follows: 挫 (''sa'', "discourage"), 缶 (''kan'', "can" or "tin") 爾 (''nanji'' "you" or "thou"), 亜 (''a'', "Asia").</ref> (サカンナンジア, ''sakan'nanjia'') in Japanese circles,<ref>w.atwiki.jp/mustnotsearch/pages/1003.html</ref> which is likely the corrupted version of 好刺激啊 and has no meaning in either Chinese or Japanese.
