La Mazmorra de lo Grotesco, also known as LMDLG, was a Spanish shock site that gained widespread notoriety after its creation on July 6, 2008 by the administrator Nerou. The site was popular primarily among Spanish-speaking internet users, who helped to spread its content. LMDLG was known for its shocking and controversial material, but also featured current news, sports news, historical and cultural articles, music, and funny videos. Similar to other shock sites like Thatsphucked.com, EFukt, Bloodshows, Charonboat.com, and Bestshockers, LMDLG uploaded a variety of content, including pornographic and violent material. The site originally provided a mix of general culture topics, health, sports, religious news, and funny prank videos. However, in April 2009, LMDLG began to upload more extreme content, such as videos of accidents, images of extreme body modifications, and articles about serial killers.

Background

The website offered a broad selection of categories that were highly popular among its user base. The first category, Accidents, featured a range of videos showcasing different types of accidents, including those that occurred on the road, in the workplace, and other incidents resulting in injury or damage. The second category, Self-harm, displayed videos of individuals intentionally causing harm to themselves, including cutting and burning. The third category, Esperpentos de la naturaleza (which translates to "scarecrows of nature"), showcased people performing disgusting and bizarre stunts for attention or fun, such as eating strange things. The fourth category, Gusanitos (which translates to "little worms"), compiled videos that featured worms in various contexts, including infections and even videos of men playing with worms on their genitals. The fifth category, Extreme body modification, exhibited videos of people undergoing extreme body alterations such as tattoos and piercings.

The sixth category, Picante (which translates to "Spicy"), was an adult content section that included videos of strange fetishes and prolapse videos. The seventh category, Psychokillers, provided information on infamous serial killers throughout history. The eighth category, Cysts and bites, showcased videos of insect bites and cysts being burst. The ninth category, Horrible torture, included videos of people being subjected to different forms of torture. Lastly, the Violence category featured videos that displayed violent and gory content. This category also included videos from other categories such as extreme body modification, torture, and self-harm. Additionally, the section featured videos of suicides, executions, and animal abuse.

History and origin

LMDLG was a website known for its controversial and shocking content that was founded on July 6, 2008 by Nerou admin on the Blogger platform. Initially, the site provided general culture topics, health, sports, religious news, and even funny prank videos. However, in April 2009, LMDLG started uploading more extreme content such as videos of accidents, images of extreme body modifications, and articles about serial killers. Despite the shift towards more shocking material, it wasn't until mid-2010 that LMDLG began to gain traction and attract a larger audience. This was mainly due to the site's decision to upload videos from other well-known sites, such as the Klonkin video, videos of worms hosted on Bloodshows, as well as strange fetish videos. By 2011, LMDLG had become a household name in the Spanish-speaking community, thanks in part to the uploading of shock videos that were already popular on the internet. Among the most infamous videos uploaded to LMDLG included 2 Guys 1 Horse, 2 Girls 1 Octopus, 1 Guy 1 Jar, 1 Man 1 Screwdriver, Putrid Sex Object, and the notorious gore video El Piquero Se Rompe La Cara. The latter video propelled LMDLG to the height of its popularity in August 2011.

The website, known for its controversial and disturbing content, gained significant attention with the release of "Cagar Las Tripas", a video showcasing an extreme prolapse that quickly went viral. While the video was widely criticized for its graphic nature, it generated a massive influx of comments and video reactions that brought in a significant number of visitors to the website. The site continued to upload shocking videos in order to maintain its popularity, including the infamous "Vampire" video, depicting a woman playing with her period, which originated from another shock site, Vampirecunt.com. Throughout 2012, the site uploaded videos featuring gruesome murders, executions by Mexican drug cartels, and other bizarre and inexplicable content, including 2 Guys 1 Chainsaw, 1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick, and 3 Guys 1 Hammer. While the content may not be for everyone, the site takes pride in its ability to shock and entertain its audience, and continues to push the boundaries of what is acceptable.

On June 24, 2013, the LMDLG website was shut down by Blogger due to accusations of spamming. The closure was a significant blow to the site's administrator and its followers. However, after a few weeks, the site was successfully restored by Nerou, the site's founder. Unfortunately, all content posted on the site between 2008 and the shutdown was lost permanently. Some content was retrieved using the Wayback Machine, but the majority of the content was lost. Following the shutdown, the site moved to Tumblr, but it experienced multiple additional closures, including in June 2014 and from February 2015 to January 2016. These shutdowns, coupled with the loss of content, caused the site to lose visitors. In its later years, the site reverted to posting content similar to its original form, which included videos of ISIS executions, drug cartel activities, fetishist videos, and extreme body modifications, as well as the well-known videos of worms that characterized the page. In 2017, the site closed permanently, bringing an end to almost nine years of sharing shocking material on the internet, primarily in the Spanish-speaking community.
