The version hosted on Runthegaunlet.org is trimmed to be fifty seconds long, while the longer version of the video is two minutes long. The video might have been hosted on Thatsphucked.com, judging by the watermark in the Runthegaunlet.org version.


The video shows a man in a bathing suit jumping off a crate before hitting his head on a brown box and splashing into the ocean. He then floats in the water as it starts to fill up with blood. Another person, possibly a woman due to the looks of the hair, swims toward his body and his friends scream in horror. The rest of the video shows him laying in a hospital bed with his face clearly torn in half while surgeons operate on him. It's hard to see all the details in the video, due to it being blurry.

In June 2009, a tragic diving accident occurred in [[wikipedia:Beirut|Beirut]] at the Manara Promenade, or Al-Rawsha, despite official disapproval. The victim, a teenager, and his brother had been diving successfully before the victim slipped and sustained a fatal head injury. The accident was captured on a low-quality Nokia cellphone video by a bystander who can be heard calling for help in Arabic.<ref name="lindsay">robert-lindsay.blogspot.com/2009/10/face-split-diving-accident-video.html (Robert Lindsay analysis)</ref> The video shows the victim jumping off a crate and accidentally smashing his head on a brown box, before plunging into the ocean and bleeding profusely. A rescue team can be seen swimming towards him while his friends cry out in despair. The video then cuts to footage shot in the brightly lit ER of the nearby American University Hospital, showing the victim lying in a bed with severe facial injuries while doctors operate on him and speak in Arabic. Lindsay's analysis said that the original video of the accident is no longer available, but a second video was shot in the hospital and shows the victim with facial injuries. The video was available on the author's website splices, together with the original diving footage paired with the hospital footage. The hospital footage was shot in the brightly lit ER of the American University Hospital, which is located near the accident site. While it is uncommon for cell phones to be allowed in emergency rooms in the United States, it is more common in the developing world for family and friends to be present in the ER and record what is happening. The boy in the hospital footage is intubated but not on a ventilator or attached to monitoring equipment such as a pulse oximeter.<ref name="lindsay" />
