The Pain Series is a set of seven shock images depicting collages of dead people, images such as Goatse and Tubgirl, genital diseases, mutilation, gore, pornography, and other gruesome content.

History

The Pain Series was created by user Huge_Midget on the Something Awful internet forums in 2003. Users on Something Awful often used the Pain Series as a prank, or used it when someone leeched.[1] The original image set, consisting of Pain.jpg, Pain2.jpg, Pain3,jpg, Pain4.jpg, Pain5.jpg, Untitled.jpg, and awesome.jpg, was originally hosted on crazyninjas.org/kittens. However, the website was shut down, likely due to violating the host provider's terms of service.

The Pain Series was eventually popularized by Encyclopedia Dramatica. The "Pain Series" page hosts Pain1.jpg, Pain2.jpg, Pain3.jpg, Pain4.jpg, Pain5.jpg, and two additional collages, Pain6.jpg and Pain7.jpg. The page also contains a link to a Last Measure mirror called lm.loldongs.eu towards the bottom. Other pages utilize Template:Pain, a template that consists of a collage of images from the Pain Series that fill the entire page, which is hyperlinked to kittens.bioghost.com, another Last Measure mirror.

Pages that use Template:Pain on Encyclopedia Dramatica include "Puppies", "Contesting Your Ban", and several user pages[2] and talk pages. Multiple articles on the site also include links to pages containing the template. The "Kittens" page uses a unique template which is similar to Template:Pain, but uses a different arrangement of images.[3]

The directory located on crazyninjas.org/kittens hosted the following seven images:

  • Pain.jpg (also known as Pain1.jpg): Goatse, Tubgirl, two Harlequin Fetus pictures, other gap.zip pictures, an anime scene of a girl cut open and her innards served as a meal (illustrated by guro artist Uziga Waita [ja]), a picture of a man with his face blown off (Rotten.com's "Motorcycle" picture), a closeup of a vulva afflicted by an STD, an anime scene of a hermaphrodite centaur with milk coming out of her breasts and semen out of her penises, and a picture of a man eating feces from a woman's anus. The caption "Roofle. Owned. Scrub." is under the defecation image, next to Something Awful's grenade logo.
  • Pain2.jpg: Goatse, Tubgirl, two Harlequin Fetus pictures, Lemon Party, a closeup of a vulva afflicted by an STD, two images of penises afflicted by STDs, other gap.zip pictures, a picture of a man with his face blown off (Rotten.com's "Motorcycle" picture), an anime scene of a man performing sexual acts on a mutilated, dead woman, an anime scene of a woman dissected (illustrated by Uziga Waita), a picture of a man eating feces from a woman's anus, a picture of a child's face that was smashed, a picture of a woman with a broken neck, an anime scene of a girl cut open and her innards served as a meal, a picture of a degloved leg, a hanged person with a decayed face, and the centaur from Pain1.jpg. This image has two captions: "Mmm" underneath the defecation image, and "I hope you like this picture as much as I do." at the bottom.
  • Pain3.jpg: Goatse, Tubgirl, Lemon Party, a picture of a hole being drilled in a man's head, other gap.zip pictures, a picture of a man with his face blown off (Rotten.com's "Motorcycle" picture), a picture of a child's face that was smashed, a picture of a degloved leg, mutilated genitalia, a picture of a woman with her neck torn, the two penis STD pictures from Pain 2.jpg, the vulva from Pain1.jpg, the hanged person from Pain2,jpg, a picture of a hand with a degloved finger, and an anime scene of a man performing sexual acts on a mutilated, dead woman.
  • Pain4.jpg: Goatse, Tubgirl, Wormeye[4], a severed head, a picture of a man with his face blown off (Rotten.com's "Motorcycle" picture), a mutilated dead man (Rotten.com's "Customs" picture), a picture of a decapitated head (Rotten.com's "Head" picture), the same vulva from Pain1.jpg, pictures of disfigured penises, a person with an infected foot, a man with an abnormal penis and scrotum, a man missing his penis, and an infected foot with worms inside of the big toe.
  • Pain5.jpg: Goatse, Tubgirl, Harlequin Fetus, Lemon Party, Wormeye, Christmas.jpg from Klerck.org, a man with his head cut, a disfigured foot, mutilated penises, a picture of a man with his face blown off (Rotten.com's "Motorcycle" picture), an infected penis, a picture of a man eating feces from a woman's anus, and the vulva from Pain1.jpg. The caption "im on your screen, raping your eyes" appears in the upper right of the image, next to Lemon Party and the vulva image.
  • Untitled.jpg: Lemon Party, an old man masturbating, a man stretching his anus with a baseball and his penis hooked up to a laptop computer that has images of pancakes, bacon, and fruit on its screen, an old woman grabbing the penis of a man about to partake in sex with her, another old man fondling himself, an old man wearing briefs and the upper part of his suit exposing his erect penis, a naked old man fondling himself while sitting on a chair, a picture of a naked middle-aged man fondling himself while standing up, a picture of a lit candle inserted in a penis, a picture of a lit lighter clamped onto a man's testicles, two pictures of naked old men standing up, a mutilated penis, a penis with bumps on the shaft and a ring around the glans, a picture of a wrench inserted into a penis, and a man with a flashlight inserted in his penis which is laying across a full cup of coffee.
  • awesome.jpg: Goatse, Tubgirl, Wormeye, a syringe injecting feces into the urethra of a penis, a dead man with his head crushed (Rotten.com's "Helicopter" picture), a mutilated penis, various skin conditions and infections, a closeup of a vulva afflicted by an STD, a hand with a degloved finger, and an infected foot with worms inside of the big toe.

Additional Images

The "Pain Series" page on Encyclopedia Dramatica added two new images, Pain6.png and Pain7.jpg, and hosted Untitled.jpg and awesome.jpg on the "Untitled.jpg" and "Awesome.jpg" pages respectively.

  • Pain6.png: An edited picture of a girl with trypophobia on her arms and legs, a picture of a man with his hands sliced up (BestGore's paper shredder accident), a man pooping on a woman's face, a baby with burn marks, a gap.zip picture, a skin infection, the glans of a penis pierced by needles, the Tubgirl2 image, the vulva from Pain1.jpg, and a nipple pierced by needles.
  • Pain7.jpg: Blue Waffle, Goatse, Harlequin Fetus, Tubgirl, the Tubgirl2 image, a close up of Lemon Party, the centaur from Pain1.jpg, a man in a yellow shirt, the vulva from Pain1.jpg, an image from gap.zip, a man licking smegma off of another man's penis, a man licking feces from a body part, a prolapsed anus, a skin disease, the glans of a penis pierced by needles, a mutilated penis, the degloved leg from Pain2.jpg, and a foot afflicted by frostbite. This image has three captions: "Mmm" under the Lemon Party closeup, "You know you want me" on the image of a man in a yellow shirt, and "Feel it..." under the Harlequin Fetus image.
